Default Side rocker panels

One of my side rocker panels took a decent scrape today from some road debris. How difficult are these to replace? I have heard in the past that these are not only screwed into the frame but somehow glued on as well. Does this make it difficult/impossible to peel a set off a junkyard Vette to replace mine?

Any estimate on what it could cost to buy these new? I'm sure knowing GM the price is ridiculous.

I read a post a few days ago about rock chipped rocker panels and the reality of replacing them. The post seemed to say that it was very difficult. Good luck.

Yes, it is not really feasible to get a used set to replace onto your car b/c of the way their glued on (they destroy themselves when taking them off). If it's just a scrape, a competent body shop can repair it on the car for a fraction of the price of replacing them.

You might take this time to add ACI side splitters since you likely need paintwork. It gives it a nice lowered look w/o sacrificing any ride height.

Best of luck,
Josh

They are very difficult to replace since the are 1 of three piece that are actually glue to the frame. They can repair the damage fiarly easily

They are glued on. Can be a challenge getting them off without damaging them. I would check with a body shop and see what they can do to just repair the one on your car.

That's what I thought too. I put some scratches in mine when I hit a curb a few months ago. I was shocked when I went to the dealer. The minimum estimate was around $750 to fill in the scratches and repaint. They said it would probably be closer to $1,100 because they can never get mag red to match and would probably need to blend the paint in to all of the surrounding panels.

Since the scratches were underneath, I filled them in with touch up paint and you can't even see it.

Same thing happened to me. $45 for touchup paint and you can't tell the scratches (well, gouges in my case) are even there without looking really hard.

I just scrapped mine up bad. So, where is a good place for touchup paint, dealer?

Once you get them repainted, have the 3M Clear Paint Protection film applied. You won't have to worry about your rocker panels ever again.

I had to fill/repaint one of mine and a local body shop here (though the dealer) did a fantastic job for $350 on Millenium Yellow. I was very happy with the results.

I think $1100 is way to high - I guess it does depend on the level of damage but mine had a pretty good chunk and a long scrape from turning too early out of my driveway.

THanks for the compliments, I get a lot of comment on them "ON the street". They are Breathless Performance Products scoops.. they are fiberglass, not plastic like the Z06 ones... these are bullet proof compared to the Z06 scoops.
the Z06 scoops have a leading edge ( sticks out ) which block 30% of the air , and get beat up with stones and look bad after a few thousand miles.. These BPP scoops have no leading edge and they take in twice the air volume as the Z06 style.. and are not a stone magnet like the Z06 style...
I think LAPD sells them also... they are right around 300 dollars for the outer scoops and the inner ducts... ( fully Functional )
