Okay, when I was in Vegas about a month ago I valeted my car... When I went to pick it up a day later, they told me I had a flat (runcraps are gone, real tires in place)... So I walk to the garage, and the tire is sitting on the rim, completely deflated. Look for a nail, etc.. and see nothing. The car was in a parking lot not easily accessed for a tow truck. So I get a can of fix a flat (was really just wanting to get my car outta there at this point) and the tire is takes it. Let it sit for an hour or so, cant hear a leak, appears to be holding pressure etc, so I go to a gas station and air the tire up. End of story. Or so I thought. Today I get a the tire serv mon on the DIC. I check gauges and that sensor isnt reporting pressure. Soooo now, Im wondering, what do I do?? Mind you it lasted no problem for a 1,000 miles. So can I take the tire off and clean the sensor and it possibly work? Do I just need to buy a new sensor? How much do they cost? Sorry for the long post, but any help now would be appreciated. Thanks,
Most likely your sensor is toast. Fix a flat and the sensor don't mix well. Depending upon your year, you can usually pick up a used one (or maybe new) in the $50 range. I think from the dealer they are $135. Now I think the 01-04 are cheaper.
I'd bet you a steak dinner your sensor is toast. Never use fix a flat with the sensors. Prices quoted above are about right, maybe a little low.
Good Luck!

I think your sensor has had it. Some report that the sensors will work after adding fix-a-flat. However, it probably was better that you do what you did than having to figure out a way to get the car out of there.

Thats about what I figured... I have a 99 with non-chrome, non-polished wagon wheels so since I will have to take the tires off anyway, sounds like a good time to throw some z06 wheels on it. Even if its a 50-100 bucks used, I'll get over it.
You will now need to replace the sensor and clean out all the fu#ks a flat that is on the rim and tire or replace all three as a unit. That stuff is bad and some of it is propane powered and can explode in the presence of a spark, be careful when removing the tire.
