Default Gear Mod - Good Deal????

I have an opportunity to have a used(10,000 miles) 3:42 diff installed in my 2001 A4 coupe. The shop wants $1500.00 for the diff., install, and a dyno tune. Is this a good price? What should I look for to make sure I am getting a quality part and workmanship? What will the performances changes be with my car after the install?

Thanks.
Chuck

Doesn't sound like a bad price for all of that. But how used is used? Is it rebuilt or just used?

I haven't gone to the shop yet. What should I be looking for?

Used 3.42's go for $400-$600 depending on mileage and condition. Install is typically $400-$500 while a dyno tune can go from $300-$600 depending on how many pulls they do and how extensive the mods are. Sounds like they are in the right ballpark assuming everything is on the up-and-up.
