Default Hood Seal

I removed the filter shroud on my 04' C5. The magazines what to sell you a rubber seal for $16.00. I want the seal to stop any water from hitting my stock filter(zip tied). I really doubt any creation of a low pressure seal to be that effective with a stock filter. Does any know where I can pick up a spool of (psa) round rubber material. Should the height be 5/8"?

Thanks for the help.

I used the MD Building Products marine and automotive rubber weatherseal (5/16 thick, 19/32 wide). I bought it in a 10 ft spool from Home Depot for about $5. Works fine.

Home Depot sells some weatherstrip type material and it may be found at places like Lowes, or many local hardware stores. 5/8" should be fine for the seal.

Here is a picture of mine from an earlier post. You can see where the seal goes and where water has a tendency to collect after installation.

I think I only paid $12 for mine. And am very glad that I bought it. It stops a lot of water from getting under the hood.

I purchased the one for sale and offered via the major distributors, it works great, you are discussing the difference between 1 or 2 dallors,,

silly, let's move on.

Default Hood Seal

Thanks to all for the input. I just wanted you to know that the same product can be had in an 8' length at the parts store.
