Ok, here I am sitting in traffic going to watch the Cowboys and Texans play last night. While slowly proceeding to the parking lot, out of no where, bang, I hear this ring and looked down at my DIC I see "Low Fuel." Then I looked at my gas guage and I see the niddle laying flat as it can be knowing it as if there was no gas in my vehicle. Knowing this was not true because I just put gas in my vehile the day before and when I left my house to go to the stadium, I had just a tad below a half a tank of gas.
My question after saying all this, what would cause this? After turning my engine off and re-starting it while sitting in traffic cleared it on the second re-start. I did the restart to see if it would clear it up to which it did. Any soluations to this?

this is a common problem manly due to sulphur content in the gas. Go to your GM dealer to get it so called fixed also check to see if you are getting on of these code DTC P1431 or P0461
Here is a link to a few TSB and print them out for your dealer just in case

This is a common problem among C5's. Could be the type of gas you are using (brand) or the fuel sending units. First try switching to a different brand or putting some Techron in the tank. See if that helps.
Using 97 octaine. Diamond Shamrock. I will give others as mentioned a try to see if it helps eliminate this problem without having to take it to the dealer....
I received that same "low fuel" warning out of the blue a month ago. Two day's later, the steering column locked up on me.
Had the recall work done and no problems with the fuel gauge since. Not sure if one had anything to do with the other, but I hadn't had any problems until that one fateful week.
