C5 vert rollbar R&D
There are a few shops that produce rollbars for a vert, and one that stands out costs big $$.
I am looking for a few vert owners who would like to take part in a design so the DIY or a metal fabricator could build one.
There are many issues to consider such as NHRA, SCCA regulations, but if we can meet the requirements for weekend drags and still provide protection - we could save a bundle.
I am not a metal fabricator and only have contacts to a few shops that would do the work. The intention here is to throw a few ideas together and provide a starting point prior to design. The efforts would be for the general public to use and not for profitable reasons except for saving money!
If I have caught your interest, please join in with your comments -
Thanks
Keith
A couple of things I'll pass along, the bars going into the rear bolt into composite material, not to metal or the frame. If you design a 4-point rollbar and happen to use it sometime, there is a chance that the mounts will go through the floor. Also the material it's made out of, they offer it in mild steel or 4130 Cromoly. The Cromoly is lighter and stronger than the mild steel (about 20 pounds lighter, got to keep that CG low).
Good luck
