The passenger side headlight on my C5 opens up OK, but when it closes, it continues to run (grind) for approximately 5-10 seconds. Is this something that can be easily adjusted or is it something that needs complete replacement? Has anyone experienced this problem?
Sounds like the plastic drive gears are shot. Pretty common in these systems. If you investigate and find that's your problem, you can get metal replacements.
Edit: KernelDee has a better deal there. Definitely go with his source. Rodney is well-respected here.

I rebuilt my passenger side Monday. Check this thread I started and read each post. It will give you some needed info, including where to get the replacement brass gear. Headlight Gear Rebuild Thread
You may have a bad headlight motor gear. The gears are made of nylon and will sooner or later break a tooth. I replaced the gears in my headlight motors with brass gears. Got them at http://www.rodneydickman.com/retail.html Look under the "Electrical" tab.
