If it makes any of you feel better, the car was probably not specifically targeted. Someone at the stereo shop may have your home address, but not the bar you stop at. More importantly, if an installer were targetting cars, in their world a $2500 system is pretty low. Check the tricked out Escalades, Nav's, and many of the ricers. Most would be embarrassed to have a system that "cheap". And if you are going to go to all of the trouble to steal one, take one that you can get more $ for.

More likely the Vette was seen as an easy and quick opportunity. If you want a good deterrent Autotasers still show up on ebay sometimes. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW , though not a good idea if you leave your dog or kid in the car.

I am sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident. For some strange reason, this one don't pass the sniff test. Witnesses and no one tried to call the police. I guess these guys are pros and knew what they wanted and how to get it real quick.

Key words were: "In their world..." Yeah to me that is a lot of $ for tunes, but to those where the sound (and appearance) really matter, $2500 is barely entry level. Stop by a Car Toys some time and look whats out there now. Unbelievable.

Sorry to hear about your car, but if 'unauthorized stereo removal' was an Olympic event the USA would take the Gold every time.

I was wondering the same thing about the factory alarm...

Also, I know there have been other threads on alarms, etc. The first week I got my Vette, Tom had a Viper alarm system put on it...the system would have signalled you on the remote while they were breaking in as well as the whole parking lot...it is loud too---the range on it is up to 2 miles...

I hope they catch your 3 guys!

Judy

I can't believe that the witnesses did nothing about it? They didn't call the police or get a license plate.
I can. It's not politically correct to report "black" people who are violating the law. Ya kwow; no one wants to be labled a "Racist, Bigited, Right-wing, homophobe" by the Democrats and national media.

Like it or not; that has become a part of peoples thinking process.
