Default Car got broken into tonight

My friends and I parked our cars by our favorite sports bar to plays some pool and have some drinks. we were in there for like 1.5 hours max(during the day ) and came out to find that our cars were broken into.

witnesses saw a cadillac pull up next to my car (02 z06) and 3 black guys jumped out and broke into it. they ended up screwing up my window, ripping my dash apart, broke the windshield wiper mechanism (unintentially, i think) so now my wipers spray fluid and wont turn off, and stole my alpine tv and jl amps.

thank god my stereo was insured or id be out around $2.5k in gear alone. anyway, for some reason i assumed that my vette would never be broken into and never worried about parking anywhere, even with my tv screen out; obviously i was so wrong. so, after i get my new stereo and install finished, the first place im heading over to is the window tint shop to get some mirror tint put on. hopefully, none of you will have to worry about prowlers or thieves but i just wanted to share my story and give my friends a heads up. ill be much more critical of where i park in the future. drive and park safe!

That's terrrible. I hate people who do these kinds of things and then usually end up selling it on eBay.

I feel for you, get tint, keep the screen closed and have no more worries.

Maybe I've watched too many detective shows on TV, guys jump out and go right for your car. Did you have all of the audio/video gear professionally installed? Sounds like the thieves knew EXACTLY what they were looking for, kinda' like they were watching the car, since someone at the stereo shop was telling them about it.

Maybe I'm too suspicious.... Witnesses didn't call the police?

Too bad some folks can't get a real job---they'll eventually get caught, get their hands slapped and then do it again!!

Wow that sucks. Too bad the witnesses didn't do anything to prevent the theft.

I agree with leadfoot4, it sounds like you were targeted, these people knew ahead of time. This car pulls up to your Z and 4 guys jump out and go straight to your Vette knowing without checking all of the other cars in the parking lot that yours has what they want?

People were watching and didn't interfere, get a plate number, call for help or notify police? :mad

Hope these guys get caught! :mad Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I can't believe that the witnesses did nothing about it? They didn't call the police or get a license plate.

We all need to work together to fight these people that is why neighborhood watches work out well.

I almost blame the witnesses as much for doing nothing as I do the people that stole your stuff.

Sorry that it had to happen. I agree that they must have checked your car out before and knew what you had in it. They just waited for you to come back to your bar.

Shame on them! People whine about the crime rate, and then do nothing when they see something actually happening.
Some people need to grow a backbone.

At least you're insured. Hope your ins. company puts everything right.

Unfortunately, that's our wonderful justice system. No justice for the real victim and minimum penalty for the perp. as they are the poor victims of our cruel society.

that is why i place a empty gun holster in plain sight on top of the dash in my corvette when i park it. it lets them know the owner has a permit to carry and he may be close by.

Your story makes me really pissed off.....

I leave my car w/ the top down in the parking lot many times and have never had any problems w/ vandalism or theft....yet.

Like someone mentioned....they knew your car, what you had, and probably knew you were gonna be there or followed you.....

***** Fockers.....

I am a pretty big guy....6' 265 lbs....been working out for over 10 yrs....if I saw someone f'n w/ my car or someone elses.....there would be some broken arms, legs, jaws and maybe a neck? I am more afraid of catching someone mess w/ my baby than someone actually messing w/ my car......

Good luck w/ your repairs and keep your head up.....tint is a good idea if you have that kinda equipment in your car.....

Default Man, What a Bummer

Actually, the folks that perpetrated this crime are the ones to be most sorry for. Eventually, they will do it again , and eventually someone will catch them in the act. If it happens within sight of someone that may react like I would do if I caught them, with either my baby or someone else's, they will be definitely in for extreme physical mishap. There are those of us that although we look benign, at only 6 feet tall and 190 pounds, underneath there brews a sense of justice. Perhaps I would forget that I promised only to use my over twenty-five years of martial arts training in self defense. Perhaps I would forget my over thirty years of military training is to be used only against an enemy of my country. Perhaps I would remember both of these, but I was brought up by rather poor parents who instilled a sense of "protect your property" in me. Therefore, I would feel sorry for thieves such as this.

Sorry about the damages - hope they are repaired soon.
