Was looking at a new black Z06 at the dealer yesterday that was lowered from the factory. The window sticker even had "lowering kit". Does anyone know what this "kit" is and what it contains? I never heard of this from the factory. THere was only about 2 fingers gap at all four corners.
Maybe it was a dealer item. The sticker was located on the passenger window next to the actual car sticker. The lowering package consisted of lowering the car, some kind of chrome wheels that I didn't care for and Toyo tires. The package was $7000 over sticker. The salesman said "well all Z06's are lowered from the factory" so he obviously didn't have a clue.
No such thing as "factory lowered", the option package is a rip off, the dealer is an idiot, RUN - DON'T WALK from this car and dealer.

Out of curiosity only, why would it be a rip off? I asked about exchanging the wheels and tires for normal Z06 items and he said no problem and would take the $7000 off of the price. I am not buying the car. But I thought it would be a good deal to get one already lowered from the dealer. At least no warranty issues.

7K OVER the sticker?! Just for kicks, what are the options, (only are a few offered on a Z06), what's the factory MSRP, and what will they let it go for? Forum dealers have about $11K or more off MSRP. But then again, they don't have the special secret factory lowering option kit complete with Korean chrome wheels. PS- The factory wheels and tires were probably worth more than what's on there now.

Lowering it that amount probably only required turning the factory bolts and hopefully they gave it an alignment. Thing is, you should drive it a while and let it settle a bit and then have it aligned.

As I stated earlier, the salesman said they would exchange the wheels/tires on it now for the normal Z wheels/tires and take off the $7000. The sticker price on the car was $53000 puls the $7000 for the lowering/wheels/tires.
Hey Gary, Maroone Chevrolet in Pembroke Pines. The car is upstairs in the covered area. I am going back there this morning to try and get pics. Want to go?

hmm..... a set of Z06 Motorsport wheel is somewhere between $1000 and $1500 for either chrome or black. Regular Chrome Z06 wheels are less.
Lowering on Stock bolts takes maybe 45 min if you know what you are doing. If you use longer bolts and that might cost $30.
I wouldn't be suprised if a dealer charged $2K for that, but where does the other $5K come from
I don't know, the tires maybe. The whole point of the post had really nothing to do with the cost since he said he would deduct that. I was just curious about the lowering kit on a brand new dealer car.

[QUOTE=Rattler71]Out of curiosity only, why would it be a rip off? [QUOTE] CREDIBILITY without being insulting (and if I do you will know there was no intention to do so) when I get into the situation you articulated above I do walk away. It involves credibility. To pass something off that is probably untrue might be good advertising but my experience (I am a 66 yr old business man) that I am dealing with someone who will take advantage of people who may not be informed. It is human nature to expect that others will treat us the way we treat others. If you are a nice, good, honest, forthright, ethical etc etc you would never expect that someone will treat you in a manner that is 180 degrees (completely opposite) of the way you treat people. That is human nature and it is also called being naive . I apologize for preaching but it is a real pet peave of mine to see nice people screwed by unethical business people. It makes it more difficult for the honest and ethical business person to do their business as they want to (honest and ethical). Now we have a ton of Federal legislation (Sarbanes-Oxley) to tighten down on corporations that are publicly traded because of the Enron and other scandals EG., Martha Stewart . . .
Run from those folks and find someone who has a good rep
