I have had that problem in the past and i was told that the AMPS have Thermal shut downs...AKA it gets too hot it shuts down so that NO DAMAGE is done to the AMP.

I used to sell audio equipment, so I can say, The shut down is preventative. It's good to at least know it works. The heat causes long term damage to the wiring, but that's normal (depending on use). I wouldn't sweat it. I mounted my amp against the rear panel. No ventilation problems. Hope this helps.
