I just installed the Donaldson Blackwing on my "new" 99 vert and O.M.G
I cannot tell you how big a difference it makes. I had heard that GM's where somewhat starved for air when you get on it but the reaction is amazing. Well that's my two cents worth for the day. Big Fan of the Blackwing.
Glad to hear it worked out for you. I have been considering the Blackwing for a while now. However, after seeing that the Halltech Stinger kit comes with bigger bellow, and smooth air hose to throttle body for near same price I cant decide which I wanna do now.
What do you guys think Blackwing or the Halltech Stinger cold airs?

The Blackwing is a nice intake. I had one previously. I have the Halltech Stinger-R now and I would definitely recommend it over the Blackwing. You just get more for your $.

Has anybody dyno'ed a car before and after a Blackwing (or similar)? Manufacturers claim all sorts of HP increases all the way to 40HP. I know it's a good increase, but I just don't know what. After tires/wheels, that is my next purchase.
I like the blackwing because it looks as if it could have been there from the factory. It fits pefectly and it's safer than a ram air system. I have done some stupid things (drove through 6-8" water) with my Blackwing and I still have yet to have any hydrolock issues. I don't know how much HP it gave me because it came on the car but it doesn't seem to hurt anything right now, I'm making pretty good power for what I have.

40HP is about 34 RWHP (MN6 tranny) and that is pretty much a bunch of bunk. You can expect anywhere from 8-16 RWHP from an intake system alone and an additional 8-10 RWHP from dyno tuning.
See my sig for increases from two basic mods compared to bone stock.

But what good is more air intake if you can't expell more air?..I mean ...don't you have to do something to your exhaust to match the extra cfm's you are intaking with the Blackwing or other similar filters????My Vette mechanic told me that it will do hardly any good without increasing exhaust flow...so what do you do to increase exhaust flow that won't cost a fortune?...other than tube headers???

Your mechanic is a bit misinformed. The stock exhaust flows perfectly well with a non-artificially aspirated LS1. It is definitely not a major contributor to any air restriction; no, the culprit in a stock C5 is the airbox. One guy with a Z06 did nothing else but swap out his airbox for a Halltech Stinger-R intake and he gained 14 RWHP. Granted, LT headers will boost the top end but this mod is NOT cheap, especially since an intake mod runs less than $250.
However, if you decide to supercharge or turbocharge your LS1 or LS6, the stock exhaust will now be the biggest restriction.

Really depends on the year of your Corvette and if it's a Z06 or not. Otherwise it's not much extra horsepower for the money. For instance it's not worth it on a 2002 - 2004 Z06.
Glad to hear you like it, glad you finally got everything ok for the install. Now go have some more fun!

Just wanted to say thanks Craig. It was truly a pleasure dealing with you and to any one else if this gentleman sells anything he is true to his word and mails the items both quickly and securely.

I got an 04 A4 a few months ago, so you are saying my stock exhaust system is good enough for handling all of the extra cfm's that a Blackwing will be producing???If so that is great news...Thanks for the info!

I got a 17 hp increase with my Blackwing, which I felt in the SOTP soon after I drove off MTI's lot. One of the best Bang For The Buck mods you can do.
