I have the MXs and really like them. I went without the Runflats and save putting a tire kit in the trunk, I am not worried. They have been holding up well with about 8K on them. (Went up to VT from PA and back with no panic!)
Noise level is good, although I found the Pilot ZPs to be quieter.. although more $$....
I did Tirerack for mine, chances are you won't find cheaper. And their service is great. I did my order online, they called me the next day to confirm since they were not stock sizes... Will buy all my tires there!
I've had the Kuhmo Ecsta MX XRPs (run-flats) for about a month now and they're incredible! They ride smoother and are a good bit quieter than the GY EMTs. And talk about grip! Just yesterday I was comparing the feel of the tread of my Kuhmos to my friend's BFG KDs and you could feel the greater stickiness of my COLD tires to his WARM tires! But I am afraid of the wear on them. I usually replaced my GY rears about every 9 months (I dont do burnouts or spin takin off, I just love to WOT accelerate ) and I think these Kuhmos might last only 6 or so months. I guess I used to put about 19,000 miles on the GYs and hope to get 15,000 miles on the Kuhmos. Hope this helps
I had a set of Kumho Ecsta MXs put on my car over the winter and I absolutely love them! They also hook up better than any previous regular street tire I've had. My best to date is a 2.03 60' time with them. Don't bother with run-flats. They're a waste of money and half the garages won't touch them so if you get a flat on the road you may SOL anyway. I got non-run-flats this time and bought a Preston InflateIt! kit which includes a couple of cans of "fix-a-flat" and a portable compressor for $25.

Hey Trooper, long time no see...
You might want to remember, It has been said many times that the Fix-A-Flat cans will ruin your Tire Pressure Sensors. Just something to remember.

I got the MX Runflats and have about 4,000 miles on them, they are incredible when compared to the Goodyears. I drive 140 miles round trip to work on a mountain road, in city, then on the freeway. Lotsa curves on that mountain road... these tires _stick_.
I got the kumho MX's from tire rack at about the same price. Big difference from the run-flats in ride and sound quality. Not as much road noise and the ride is not as harsh. For the price their is no other tire. Their are better performing tires out their but for the greately increased price it is not worth it for me unless money is no problem for you. BTW the increased performance of other tires will not be used by even a good driver. You have to be pushing the car absolutely to the max and beyond to notice the difference. I have run several track events and the kumho's worked very well when hot.
It is a concern with no run-flats. Get a flat you have to call a friend or carry a plug and comperssor for emergencies. Just remember that a plug is only to get you home. BTW, the run-flats are a good tire for what it was designed to do and they do hook up when you get them really hot. The loud road noise and poor ride quality are just a by-product of the design. I went with the kumho's.
I'm running Khumo Exsta AS (all season), that's all Discount had in stock. The grip is superior to the Nittos 555s I had before. I did notice a little bit of bump steer with the Khumos I did not have before. Might just need an alignment.
The road noise is significantly less with the Khumos compared to the Nittos as well. They are a HUGE improvement over the GY runflats.
Straight line traction is also better with the Khumos compared to Nittos. I can hammer it on my A4 from a dead stop and it just hooks (if the road is good).
Get a flat repair kit and go for the non-run flats. I've put 38k on my car with no tire issues, GY, Nitto or Khumo.
And oh yeah, with the money you'll save, you can get an intake or.....
My Khumos were only $814, mounted, balanced with the Road Hazard warranty.

My comment as far as ruining tire pressure sensors is that I've heard that the sensors don't really cost that much so ruining one and replacing isn't much of a problem. I think I even did a post once.... ok yes I did and prices came in at between $50 and $100 per sensor. So let's say you get a flat, you might pay $75 to replace a sensor if the flat is bad enough (not just a slow leak which is often the case) to require you to use a fix-a-flat. The question then is, how often will that situation occur and can you afford the $75 at that time to get the new sensor...
