If I am only going to be warned by the V1 when the laser is already shot directly at me, it seems it is too late... so how will the V1 be saving my butt time and time again!!
i've only been shot with laser once in the 6 years ive had my V1. ive been to 6 different states and countless different counties with it. Most use KA around me and on occasion K. if your area uses only laser, any detector is useless.
YEOOOOWWWWWWWWW Sorry about your LUCK.......I know mine is out there waiting as I'm usually.........a mile or two over
Does the V1 work....absolutely it does....but you still need a rabbit out front........I've cruised WAY over for LOTS of miles....but I also have my Midland on for those days too !!!!!!
Good Luck with the Missus and MR. Insurance Man
Sorry for 'ya!
Reading the replies lets me believe that the LEO's from different areas have different standards. So, how do you know what to do when you're a "guest?"
I use a part of the PA turnpike daily and find that I can drive by the radar at 72 (posted 65) without drawing any attention. And I see that some of you tell us that they'll "give you" 20!
I guess it all depends on where you drive.
Hope you can get some relief from the "gotch 'ya!"
Well, here's a few based on where I've been -
Here in Florida - for some reason out of state tags reflect radar and laser beams more than those issued within the state. And we thank all of you for the added the revenue. We also use life-long construction zones to slow things down.
Texas and Louisiana haven't repaired their highways since they were built so even being able to do the posted speed limit without ripping the suspension out from under your car is a treat. Hondas have vanished in their potholes.
I-285 around Atlanta requires a SCCA pro-high speed driver's license and Valium to survive. But you'll need a rally navigator to figure out all the Peachtree Streets to get anywhere on surface streets.
Los Angeles runs hot and cold. You can either fly or be stranded for hours on the freeways so always pack a lunch. Visual contact for Chips is a must.
Kentucky and the drive between Louisville and Bowling Green is just gorgeous country. Of course the NCM is a magnet that pulls your right foot down on the accelerator pedal anyway. but LEOs seem understanding.
Good luck with the ticket. I know I get carried away myself, its so easy.
I sometimes wish I was back in Germany WITH the vette this time! THAT
would be fun!!!
Where abouts did he nail you, On the interstate or one of many parkways up there? Just wondering since I go out to LI at least once a month and the traffic is always moving 70 to 80 mph.
I was on I-87 on my way up to Saratoga. Got caught in the Catskills. Careful on the LIE, 70 mph is about the limit. 80 and you are nailed.....
geez here in northern illinois 85 in a 55 is the average speed. Many of us including myself usually cruise 90-100
Dave
not me. call me old, call me chicken or flame me..I have driven in a lot of major cities, I have to say IL /chicago have the worst drivers. every other morning watching the news you'll see a horrible accident on 1 of the tollways.

I can attest to that being originally from Atlanta and visit family fairly often.

Have fun
As for the V1, it is the best, however if you live in an area like Atlanta and its surrounding sub-urbs, every LEO has a laser. I was tagged and ticketed by a LEO in a small town outrside Atlanta, and even a small dept like that has Laser. The V1 did exactly what it was supposed to do it went off, I was doing 42 in what I thought was a 45. I noticed it saw the LEO and didn't think twice. Until he told me it was a school zone.
As a parent, I would never knowingly speed in a school zone. Apparently the blinking lights came on at 8:15 AM ACCORDEING TO dot. MY TICKET WAS AT 8;23. I never saw trhe lights flashing.
Anyway paid the fine, sold the V1 and bought a goody for the Vette. Alls well that ends well
