Default Starting Problem and Shift Indicator Questions

Here is a problem I had that when I first bought the car was a 'feature' but have since realized its really a problem.

If my car is locked and I use the Key Fob to unlock the car and get in and put the key in the ignition the seat, steering wheel and mirrors automatically adjust as they should and I can start the car without any problem.

But....if when I turn the engine off and let the seat move back and steering wheel move forward and then try to restart the car it won't start nor will the memory for seats, steering wheel and mirrors function.

Has anyone experienced this before? The local Vette Tech says it could be some misadjustment in the key cylinder.

Another question. If the car does not have the CAGS module installed the and the 1st to 4th indicator light is on the transmission should NOT let me shift into 2nd right at all? It seems like I can perhaps force it into 2nd without too much pressure? Is this a problem? To be honest I purchased a CAGS (and CLB Module) but haven't installed it yet. Is there a possiblilty that the CAGS module has already been installed?
I haven't checked for that either.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Sprags

If you have not removed the ignition key, your seats should not be moving. If you have, your seats and other items will not move back unless you press the memory button again or hit the unlock button on the fob.

As far as the tranny shifting goes, if you do not have a CAGS eliminator installed, you should not be able to shift into second when the feature is activated. I would say you may have one already installed, but you need to get under the car and check.

What about the car not starting until I lock and then unlock it with the key fob? Is it supposed to be that way? Sorry if I didn't make that clear the first time.
