Racing Schools
Joel
I went thru three Coarse at Jim Russell
A coarse at Skip Barber.
A Coarse at Bragg Smith
Several track days at ThunderHill
And a few track days at Sears point (Now known as Infineon)
Several Open Road Races
I would do most of them again, there a blast.
Every time I go I learn a little more!
I wish these driving schools were a mandatory part of Driver Education before anyone gets a drivers license.
By all means go to a school, any school you'll love it!

There are many schools out there. Most of the schools you use your own car and run $300 to $600 for the weekend. When you use a school that HAS their own cars you are looking at several thousand dollars for a weekend.
Do you learn anything more from a school that supplies their own cars?? I think with the course like Skip Barber or Jim Russel you do especially if it is an open wheel car.
the high point is:
You will learn to be a much better driver
the low point is:
you will crave more and more schools and track time.
( or maybe this is the high point?)
There is also a lot of info over in the Autocross and Roadracing forum.
Good luck
Almost any driving school is a blast and you'll learn alot.
I have been to Skip Barber and Jim Russell, but it has been quite a while. Both were excellent.
I personally don't think any driving school is going to be bad and they will teach you a bunch, so if that one is close and fits your budget, I'd go for it. Can't hurt that they use Vettes.
