I have aftermarket rims and one of the wheel sensors came loose. I brought the tire to a shop and when they remove the tire the sensor fell out. After inspecting the rim it looks like they put the sensor on with JB weld or liquid nail. What is the proper way to install the sensor?
What you mentioned is a common way of doing it on wheels that do not accept sensors in the common way. Usually they will be mounted with an epoxy.
As an alternative there are some huge "band clamps" that can be used to strap the sensor to the wheel. That is the way that HRE mounted the sensors in my wheels. Unfortunately one of mine also came loose but that was blamed on the place that mounted my tires.
