Here it is haven't had it done yet. Can't decide on a dealer locally since I bought the car out of state. Recall Notice On 2004 Corvettes
GM is recalling approximately 41,928 2004 Corvettes due to a problem with the lower ball joints. On certain vehicles the lower control arm ball stud/washer assemblies were made of the wrong materials. This may cause the washers to fracture and become loose or fall away from the vehicle, thereby reducing the clamp load of the ball joint’s nut. This in turn can potentially result in separation of the control arm ball stud and steering knuckle, which would lead to diminished steering control and reduced braking performance. GM has not yet provided a remedy or owner notification schedule for this recall, but current owners of affected cars can expect to hear from the company shortly. In the alternative, owners may call Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438. CM and btw the vin breakpoints are for vettes:45118579 thru 45127798
The mechanic showed me the parts that were replaced. I am not an expert in these things, but it looked like two nuts with lock washers attached. The mechanic told me that the problem is that the washer was made of the wrong material.
But I thought there were 2 in the front and 2 in the back???

Maybe there are four of them, he only showed me two. He showed them to me as an example when I asked about the recall. I never asked how many were replaced. I went to see the mechanic after the job had been completed, I did not watch the work be done.
