Default Memory issue -AC always comes on when car started

have a 99 rag top - all of a sudden everytime i start the car - the AC kicks on. i redid the memory option - car started - turn AC off - push memory #1 lights blink - turn car off - restart car and AC turns on again.
Am i doing something wrong ??

I am pretty sure that it is normal.
It is because of the mode that you are in for the hvac system. hit the mode button and it will shut off

and I could be wrong... but I dont think the memory has anything to do with the settings for the climate control.

Yes, it does - driver seat, osrv mirrors, tilt-tele, radio presets, tone, volume, last displayed station, cd position and last climate control setting.

I'd suggest making sure that fobs 1 & 2 are correctly "trained." The owner's manual will tell you how. Which memory setting is used depends on which fob last unlocked the car.

I THINK it comes on to take the condensation out of the lines. Not 100% sure but mine has been doing that also. I watched my video again the other night and I think that was the reason why the AC kicks on. Damn, have had the car for 4 yrs and I'm still watching the video, whats up with that?

I believe it has to do with how the A/C was set when you last turned off the car. It doesn't matter how it is set with the memory buttons. The memory stores the last climate control setting before shutting the car down.

Well reading his post seems to indicate he has the AC off when he shut the car off. When he restarts the car, the ac comes on again, right?

No problem. I went through the same thing you did. It was just driving me nuts. I tried several ways and finally figured it out.

Lets face it, the memory mode is just flakey. It has a mind of its own!

Also if you have the vents open for the window defroster the A/C will come on.
