I have 3000 miles on my 04 Coupe. Today coming back from my weekend trip (Laguna beach to San Diego, CA) while driving home during the night at 75 mph the C5 started trying to stall, hesitating. If was like it was going to stall but recovered repeating this continusly. The car felt like shaking front and back. I noticed the display was showing a charger error code from time to time.
I moved to the right lane in case it stall but it recover, a few minutes later it satrted doing the same. I turned oof the AC, lights and radio and it recovered. At a street light it stalled. I was able to start the car again and make it home. I noticed the battery reading was fluctuating from 13.9 volts down to 13.4 and if I stopped the car down to 12.6.
Any ideas what could be happening?
Of course I am taking it to the dealer. Or better, I am asking them to pick it up. If the car dies while driving it can be a real hazard. This happened to me in a Ford Expeidtion and steering and brakes got heavy by the time I reacted I was in the other lane and almost crash. (This one was a defective fuel pump).
Have any one had similar experience? Is this a known electrical system issue?
Hmmm, my '04 CE stalled once for about a 2-3 mile stretch. Every time I stopped, the idle would go to 200 or so and stumble. Taking my foot off the gas while driving would be like putting on an air brake. Then it was OK and never did it again. Freaky... I found no codes and never found out what it was. If you figure it out let us know.

I got some bad gas last week in my truck and it did about the same thing. Luck I only had put in 5 gallons so I stopped at nest place and filled the tank. After about 20 miles on the mixture it smoothed out and after about 50 miles the check engine light went out. Sid.

Could be a computer issue also. If one of them goes bad, all sorts of weird things happen to the car. Good luck at the dealer. Hope they find the source of your problem.
I've got an 04 Z with 4k on it. I've gotten the same error three or four times. For me it's always been as I turn the car on or off. It displays in the DIC and goes away before I can do any thing. I've checked the battery and everything seems ok. It hasn't done it for a while. I never did figure out what it was, but it always has run fine.
