Default Chip?anyone.....?

Hey guys,
I've seen a few places offer a an after market computer module that is suposed to replace your stock computer and remap the whole thing, raise the rev limiter, change the air/fuel ratio etc...u know how it works...
Now i was curious if anyone has an after market chip and what you think of it,i think it might not be a bad idea if you have the stage two(exhaust, intake)it might add some power?....

There are no "chips" for the C5, at least not like in the past where you could just snap it in the computer. Now you have LS1 Edit or Predator which allows you to modify certain parameters such as A/F, shift points etc..You have to hook up thru the diagnostic port under the dash.

Seems I recall some type of Chip that leached off the PCM... but I've never found any people who favor such a product besides the people selling them...

A lot depends on what your plans are for mods...and the availability of tuners in your area...
If you do heads and cam you will benefit from an LS1 Edit tune, if you go big on your cam you must have it...
If your sticking with bolt ons ... a hand held programmer such as the Preditor or the Vincci may do the trick
If your daring you can buy the LS1 Edit or HP Tuners program and learn to tune it yourself... but it could be an expensive lesson...

All of the above work by editing parts of the PCM files...

I'd rather leave the tuning of my car to a skilled tuner with LS-1 on a dynomometer to get the most out of the mods on my car. It was well worth the money spent and re-tunes aren't that much. Simply buying a re-programmed chip can't possibly make the fine adjustments in air/fuel mixture or fan settings for any stat installed.
