Default Extended Warranty Help Needed

I have an 02 with about 32K miles so I'm still under the factory warranty. I want to extend it before it expires and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations other than going through GM. Just wondering if there are any reputable companies. Had one a while back on a different vehicle and it just seemed that when I needed to have service, the part I needed to have replaced magically was not covered. Are there any warranties from that provide coverage equal to the factory 3/36?

Check out Warranty Direct or 1 Source. Both of these warranty companies are popular with forum members.

I just bought a 99 with 20k miles that's out of warranty..Warranty Direct will give me one on the car once they have someone come out to inspect the car..I plan on getting it from them..The GM dealer I plan to go to accepts them too!! If you get a GM warranty go with Ken Fichtner.....

I've had 1 Source on 3 cars now, including the Vette and never been denied a claim or had a problem getting service.

I have Warranty Direct ..
Read this: http://www.carbuyingtips.com/warranty.htm
I bought Warranty Direct 3 years ago... 7 years 100,000 miles zero deductible bumper to bumper... for 1200 dollars... I paid 200 dollars the first month then 100 dollars a month for the next 10 months... with no interest..
Warranty Direct is one of the oldest extended warranty companies in the country... they were writing extended warranties years before GM and Ford ever got into the extended warranty business.. Their D&B rating is "A" Superior.. which is the highest you can get... To date : I have used them six times.. Water pump, oil sending unit, Door control Module, and Headlight actuator control motor..[alternator, belt tensioner and idler pulley ](this was one claim ), and just this week a new seat adjuster.. they had paid over 3,000 dollars in claims so far , and always with a thank you and, we will be here for you if you need us again... And the Best Part is I do Not have to take it to the dealer...Although many dealers will take this warranty because it actually pays them 40 % more for labor than GM pays them... I don't have to deal with people that know less about a Corvette than I do.... No dealer 18 year old Lot jockeys lighting up my tires... No inept techs working on my car... no threats or hassles from a guy that was working at McDonald the year before.. MY repair guy has been in business 40 years.. can do anything GM can do... he doesn't have any kids working for him... I can watch... My repair shop told me that Warranty Direct is the best warranty company he has ever worked with... he even Now has his personal cars covered by them.. Never a penny out of my pocket... MY guy calls Warranty direct to open a claim... he repairs the car... calls me when it is done.. submits his repair bill Via a fax to Warranty Direct, and he gets paid right on the spot via corporate credit card,,, just as if I gave him my credit card,,,
I still have four years and 50,000 miles left on this warranty... it would be worth 6 to 800 dollars to anyone who would buy my car... if I decided to sell it.. Would I do it again...? in a heart beat !

Experience
Well over 1.5 million contracts sold.
Over $400 million in claims paid.
Over 800,000 claims paid.
Over 9,000 claims handled every month.

Stability
A Forbes Magazine Top 200 Company- three times.
Over $140 million in assets, mostly in insured claims reserve accounts.
Celebrating our 25th year in business and 10 years on the Internet.

Reliability
Over 18,000 dealers and repair facilities do business with Warranty Direct.
Over 2,200 car dealers, banks and credit unions sell our coverage.
ZERO Better Business Bureau complaints in the past 16 months.
That is 144,000 claims without one single complaint.
Licensed and approved to do business in all 50 states.

Coverage
The industry's most comprehensive coverage.
Wear and tear, seal and gaskets, overheating- all covered!
No restrictive, vague or fuzzy contract language.

When your vehicle breaks down, Warranty Direct pays.

Default Extended Warranty

As far as Warranty Direct, did you call to better pricing than you can get online? I went online and did the instant quote and for a 5 yr/100K mile warranty with zero deductible, the price was $2355 for the bumper to bumper. Just wondering if the prices have gone up in recent years of if you got a better price.

thanks

Just checked their site, and they want $2130 for 6 years 100,000 miles for zero deductible on my 03. But, there's no inflation....

They have already paid 3000 in claims to me and I still have four years left... you do not want to be without a warranty... if in three years you want to sell your car, you can offer the new owner a 3 yr bumper to bumper warranty.. you wont have any problem selling your car and you could add 800 to 1000 to the price over a car with no warranty..

1 Source has a Diamond Plan (which is apparently their top of the line) for 60/100K total miles for $999 which is pretty good. I was curious how this compared to the GM Protection Plan. I actually have my car in now for a problem and the service consultant got pricing for me and a 3yr/75K additional was a surprising $3875. The list of covered items looks pretty damn close to the 1 Source as well as Warranty Direct. That is a huge difference.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up going with 1 Source after reviewing everything. Chevy quoted mearound $3800 for an additional 60K warranty. 1 Source gave me a 100K Titanium package which covers even paint chips and the windshield...all for $1000. Again, I really appreciate the help on this topic. Especially since I just had about $1500 worth of warranty (factory still) done this week.

For my 2002 Z06 I just bought the GMPP Major Guard 48/40 warranty with $0 deductible for $880. My local dealer gave me this deal which I think is pretty good. My Z06 still had 3 weeks of factory warranty left when I bought it.
