Default Dead C5

I leased my navy 99 vert new. I just purchased the car off lease and within a week, it died on the highway.. The bill is over 1000 at the dealer SO FAR and I was wondering who I could call @ GM. They have replaced the throttle control module and now say that the BCM is full of water??? Can anyone help with a phone number for GM to see if they will do anything?

thanks
Roy

Check your owners manual. There are numbers in the back for questions and customer diservice.

Did you purchase an extended warranty when you purchased it off lease? Don't think GM is going to do much unless you have a warranty. By the way, water in the BCM sounds like you may have had a clogged a/c drain. It has a habit of clogging and draining right on top of the BCM. Just a thought, good luck!

Try calling the General Motors Customer Assistance Line 1-800-222-1020. Let them know what the symptoms were, what was done, and who did the work. They will start a file and might be able to offer some assistance.

Call Customer Assistance - I've had pretty good luck with them before. Just have to present all the facts. Good luck - hopefully they will cover this as a goodwill effort.

I would have the dealer check the A/C drain - if it is clogged, and you've had the car in for regular service, ask them why they didn't clean it as part of the servicing.... Be interested to hear what they say.

I got the car back.. 1100+ to repair. Replaced throttle control and BCM. No explanation as to how the water got in the BCM as of yet other than "it was not due to defects in material and workmanship." GM did come through though.. They are refunding the 200 or so it cost me to fix the steering column 2 years ago and also gave me a certificate for a 1000 preferred customer discount on my next GM car (an '06 C6 I hope). The call to GM customer service was certianly worth making.
Thanks Guys!

That's funny!! In the mail yesterday I got a certificate for $4000 off if I trade in my '99. This came from Bill Heard and is good AFTER I make my best deal! Oh, and I don't even service my car with them. I don't think GM is doing you any favors.

My guess would be that the $1000 discount from GM that RAK received would be in addition to the $4000 from Heard if he had their certificate, which I bet he could get if he wanted to buy from them.

Its just a gimmick to buy a new car. It certainly doesn't help you with your current one. So do you have any warranty on this car?

The Original 3 yr 36k warranty expired 2+ years ago. Car has over 50k on it. I did not buy any extension.. So far, it still would not have been worth it on the C5. They cost more than this repair and would have expired anyway (over 5 yrs). I could have bought one last week @ purchase for 1800 or so for another 2? years I think. I did not. Most do not cover electrical parts anyway - only "oiled" parts. I never buy them for cars, only Jest Skis.. I did buy one from Kawasaki for a 99 Ultra JetSki and it's had about 6k worth of warranty work. It cost just under 10k new and the extended warr was only 300.
And yes I agree that the discount is over and above any dealer offers. If you think that you can make your best deal and then get another 4k off from the dealer, I think you may have a suprise waiting if you try it. If the dealer sent it, they are aware of it! This one is from GM and the money will be paid to the dealer by them os it cost them nothing!
