Default Correct oil filter

[FONT=Arial Black][COLOR=Black]
I had the chevy dealer perform my first oil change on my 2004. I just changed the oil myself on the second changew/Mobil 1 filter and oil. I removed the oil filter and checked the number, and it was a PF46. I checked the owners manual and it said to use PF44. Does anyone know the difference?

Lots of posts in the past - you'll find tons of info if you do a search.

But - PF44 has been replaced by PF46. Delco still makes the UPF44 which is the Ultra-Guard filter. Fichtner and a few others sell singles or cases at a good price. The UPF44 filters a few microns more than the PF46. Either one is a good choice.....I use the UPF44 personally.

Thanks alot. Is the cost of the PF46 comparable to a Mobil 1?
The mobil 1 was about $10. Is there a big difference?

AMSOIL SDF filters are very comparible to Mobil 1. Current retail price as of Sept 12th is $10.45. Preferred customers get them for over 20% less.

C5/Z06 part number is SDF32.

Amsoil filters are better than the Mobil 1 actually. The flow much more oil, which is critical in a hard driven application.

When I run out of the PF44 filters, I go with the PF46 which is the replacement for the PF44 filters. I use only AC Delco filters on my GM cars.

Patman,
While I agree, and this is supported by the oil study link above, for some reason everyone thinks I may be biased.
