I was cruising along tonite, when for some reason I didn't pay attention on the intersection where the photo radar is installed and by the time i noticed the light changed it was too late. I speed up and boom>>> the camera flushing before my eyes. How much do you guys think it is going to cost me? Does it going to affect my insurance?
Take the ticket to a lawyer and have him fix it. You'll pay more to use the lawyer but you don't want your state to put any kind of moving violation on your driving record.
I know every state has different laws. I believe that here in NY if you get caught on a picture camera going through a red light, you get the fine in the mail, but I do not believe it goes against our license. Hope it turns out ok for you.
Don't worry.. pay the fine. It will not go against your insurance or record. How can they prove it is YOU driving? For that reason, you pay the fine and nothing more to be concerned about.
mike
The answer is it DOES go against your license and impacts your insurance if it is a moving infraction. But check with an attorney in the state where you live to see if anything can be done to mitigate the potential impact.
As to people who don't think it counts because they "can't see you" it doesn't work that way. If the car is registered to you and you cannot prove someone else was driving you get the ticket and points. Very similar to a parking ticket.
Photo tickets are very hard to beat. There was a problem in the Southern California area not too long ago with the cameras and equipment not being callibrated correctly, but I would say that is probably very rare. Unless you've heard of a similar problem in your area, you're probably stuck. When you get the ticket in the mail, you're going to be amazed at how clear the photograph is of your car, your license plate, and more importantly, you. Good luck.
I remember a story back in the mid 90's about cameras being installed on German road at a red light.... so many people ran the light that the camera was out of film in about 10 minutes Could be folklore, but it's funny regardless

I'm surprised they still allow those things. I was vacationing in Scottsdale last year, and took a left just after the turn arrow went out. It was like daylight right in the middle of the intersection and completely disoriented me.
I never heard anything about it. Maybe they don't go to the trouble to track down rentals?
In Calif. the picture has to have a clear shot of the driver and the plate or they will not send you anything. It used to be that you couldn't even fight the ticket. That took about a year to change.
First of all do you have your front plate on the car? if i remember correctly it doesn't take a picture of your rear plate just your front.
In Az we only required one plate...So to answer your question I don't have plate on front just the rear. but i'm sure they will compensate with that...
I just got the same thing in Beaverton, OR. Thing that pisses me off is I didn't see the yellow light and when I did I slammed on my brakes. But it was in my 5300lb Blazer didn't think I could stop in time and went through it. I think if a cop was there giving the ticket I could have gotten a few bucks off in court. BUT and here is the reason I think they are BS there is no grey its a black and white deal I had to pay the full fine of $330. In OR it does go on your driving record my first ticket in 15 years and I'm only 31.
Ironic thing is there IS a problem with people running red lights around here and I can't stand it, still don't think they should have robots patrolling us!!!
