Check out these websites concerning photo blocking remedies:

phantomplate.com

photoblocker.com

We have the same camera systems here in Atlanta GA.

I purchased a can of photo blocker spray that coats your tag with a material that makes it unviewable to cameras, due to this problem.

They also sell special tag lenses that do the same thing, as well as foil laser targeting (on the tag).

Or run a jammer and really **** them off. Problem with jammer is they can still tell your going to fast 120 in a 70 oh well Jammer worked lol.

Check out this site for some good info...

http://www.howstuffworks.com/red-light-camera.htm

In California the camera starts shooting pics BEFORE you enter the intersection, while you are in it and on the way out, then when you are all the way out. The camera and radar work together to estimate your speed so that the camera /radar "knows" you are not going to stop and starts taking pics. They get the front and rear plate, and a good pick of your face....this is required...then they match your face to your pic and your drivers license for ID match. You recieve a very nice photo layout showing an overview of you, in your car, approaching then violating the red light and then leaving the intersection...complete with zoom shots of your plate and you. Each "violation" must be reviewed by a peace officer in california before being sent out. Good luck on getting out of one. In california they are moving violations and do go on your record as such and your insurance company will hold it against you. I got one in L.A. and paid the $270.00. It was in a rental car as well...they got the rental contract info from Hertz and bing-bang-boom....ticket in the mail. It was at night and the world lit up when those strobes went off in rapid succession to cover all those angles. Quite disturbing

Default Jammers

Here is the real deal, coming from someone who has worked in the stealth world.

1. The "Passive Jammers" absolutely do not work. The Radar Cross Section (RCS) of a car is way too large for them to make any difference. They have been sold for a long time and have at times been stopped by various legal means (laws against false claims). Car and Driver and some of the other magazines have tested them and they have been proven worthless. Any jammer that would work on a car will be absoultely illegal since you do not have a license from the FCC to broadcast that much power. Don't waste you money on them.....

2. Your best cover is a good radar detector. I have been using the V1 for a good while and it is excellent. Remember that they can "see" you on radar for more than 1/4 of a mile so the game is to try to get you into their range before you see them. A good detector has much more range than that so they will have to use cover, or a hill top to hide behind. Instant on is pretty much deadly, but most cops are stupid and use it too often. With a good detector you will get occasional beeps and that will be you warning. When you get a beep, look for the hidden cop and cool it and you will be fine.

Had a freind driving his MB in Germany a year ago. He went by some photo radar speed trap under the speed limit, but it took a picture of him. He thought "crap." So he turned around and then drove though it again, this time 10 mph slower then the speed limit. Again it took a picture

He was really steaming this time. SO he turned about AGAIN then came thought that photo radar speed trap again at 5 mph. FLASH - again it took a picture. So he thought if was just broken and he drove off.

Two weeks latter he got three tickets in the mail with photos of each time he went thought the photo radar.

The photos showed him not waring his seatbelts. He got 3 tickets where for NOT WARING HIS SEAT BELT.

Lots of Great Info through this thread. For what its worth, I have heard/read that the Vette may gain an advantage by the body not being metal and that some colors (Black In particular) also make it harder for radar to detect. Any truth in this at all ? If so, then a black vette without a front plate may have some kind of advantage. Of course not a visual advantage by any means unless one develops the famed "cloaking" device

Of course this is NOT the reason I have a Black Z06, Nor one without a front plate, just thowing the question out there. I generally do not go more than 10MPH above any posted speed limit for any length of time (perhaps except to pass) under normal daily driving.

Default Stealth

The plastic body isn't necessarily any help. It is invisible to radar. Imagine what the car would look like with no fiberglasss or plastic nose piece and that is what the radar sees. The front of a vette, when the skin is peeled off has a lot of reflective surfaces and you end up with pretty good radar cross section. You would have to coat the inside of the bodywork with Radar Absorbent Material (RAM) to get any help. What is far easier is to make the surface from something that reflects radar and then set that surface so that the radar isn't directly reflected back to the sender, that is get it off angle, like the stealth fighter.....

The black surface and no front plate is very good for laser, if there is no chrome and nothing big to reflect from, it is very difficult to get laser to work until you are very close.

it will go against your record and you will have to attend traffic surviavl school (unless you are eligible for defensive driving still). If you are eligible for defensive driving you have nothing to worry about. They were changing the law here so that the person the car is registered to would get the fine regardless. I am not sure if this has taken effect. Regardless, you will be amazed how clear it is that is you driving. When you get the ticket in the mail, you will also receive an advertisement from a guy here in town. Call him and see what he says.

Paying the fine w/o consulting a lawyer is foolish.

Call a lawyer that specializes in traffic law.
