I had it done on the front of my 92 Mustang GT, here in South Florida. BUT...mine was 70% tint, so it was more clear than tinted. Helped keep the UV out of the car.
Seriously though....Have you thought about possibly negative effects for HUD? Nightime visibility? Etc?
(I'm assuming your talking about just the top 10" or so of the windshield...If your talking about the whole thing, I look foward to your post "Damn LEO pulled me over for no reason"....lol)
ok, before this gets out of hand, let me explain. I am talking about the whole window. Of course it would not be dark. Just enough to reduce the glare. I am interested in how it would effect the HUD.
If you tint it lightly, you cannot even tell it was done.
I did it on a Cobra I used to have. It looks good, but will make it harder to see at night. After you get used to it its no big deal just dont go too dark.

I have "Light" on mine. You can't tell it's there .. much. Just reduces the "heat factor" to my black dash and interior. I have no problems at night, but then again, I have real HID's, not just the bulbs. Hope this helps.
All I can tell you is I have 20% tint on my rear glass and I am damn glad I don't have to look out that window at night to see where I'm going .
Daytime, no problemo!
I saw something on a few Vette windshields at Carlisle which I thought was cool. It gave the glass a blueish/metallic look and wasn't too dark to look out of. Any ideas what that might be?

That's exactly what my tint does. It's the Titanium tint. It's just the way the material is made.

After you get used top it it's no big deal??? I'm thinking it's a big deal everytime you drive at night. A very big deal. It's your car so do what you want but don't pass off an illegally tinted windshield as "no big deal."
