Stupid Firestone ad.
It just struck me as a dumb, deceiving ad.

What do you do if you are not running on run flats and get a flat tire? Tow job to where ever?? Mine is my daily driver in S. Ca. and its not fun getting a flat biscuit on the freeways here. What do I do, pick up an extra rim and tire & store it in the back along with a jack accessories? Do they make that much of a difference to risk a flat tire?

Love my Firehawks and wouldn't go back to Goodyears unless they make the new C6 tires available in C5 sizes.

I won't be going back to the Goodyears.

The kit consists of a small compressor powered off the accessory/cig lighter, a patch and plug kit and some basic tools like a pliers and an awl. The downside is the kit retails for about $400.
The best option is what most folks here have done, is to make your own kit, buy a compressor at Wal-Mart for about $10, the patch kit is about $15, and some other basic tools. I've added a pair of Mechanix-Wear gloves and an old shower curtain to kneel/lay on. I put it all in a small canvas bag and keep in the center compartment. Also added a good flashlight, some clean towels and you might consider some waterless hand clearner - but that shouldn't be necessary if you use the gloves.
Another option is to run the runflats - but buy one of the other brands available like Michelin, Firestone, Kumho, Bridgestone, etc. Most of the aftermarket brands are quieter, handle better and ride softer than the factory GY's. If I lived in SoCal, and commuted daily on the freeways in that trafffic, I might be inclined to select one of the others mentioned. Good luck!

Just razzin' ya, brother!Okay, seriously, every Z06 comes from the factory without run-flats. It's not a big deal to carry around a low-profile jack (I have one from an F-body), compressor, tire plugs, pliers, wrench, cell-phone, AAA card, etc. One lesson I learned from Pulp Fiction: it pays to know someone in the 818.
With every car I've owned, I've gotten a flat away from home, so I know it's only a matter of time. I'm prepared and yes, I think it's worth it to go without runflats.

The only good Goodyears that I've ever driven on are these F1SC tires. All of the other GY tires have been junk.
I get what you're saying about the Z06 and the Firestone ad though. I thought the same thing. Firestone never made a tire to fit the stock Z06 wheels properly. Show a C5 in the ad if anything, not a Z06.
