ok... i have little over 1500miles on my vette. the fastest i've gone was upto 125mph or so right on/after i shift into forth and i get friggin scared and slow down. -.-;; i don't know if i'll ever get to rev it upto sixth and see how fast i can go in it.
do you get scared too? is there a "proper" way in driving fast?
They have driving schools for this sort of thing on closed tracks where you can legally speed.
Mostly I'm scared about what can happen in terms of death and destruction. Especially if my recklessness caused some innocent victim suffering. Although I have found stretches of road where it was reasonably safe to test the car's handling characteristics for a brief moment, I don't attempt the upper limits on any public roads. It's good that it's scary, that's your survival instinct.

If you don't feel safe you AREN'T driver error will cause most accidents Take a course to get to know what is going to happen to you and your car when you are at high speeds It may save your or someone else's life. Sorry to get on a pulpit here but I think everyone should drive within their ability and you can always train yourself to be a better driver
Ironically the fastest gear in the C5 is 5th. the car wont go over 135 in 6th gear. It will top out around 165ish in 5th.
Last year when heading north out of Las Vegas I had the cruise on at 128 MPH. I wondered how fast she would go in 6th so I floored it and watched the HUD. Got up to 147 MPH and the highway started to climb, so I went back to crusing. I have a good idea that mine will top out quite a bit higher than 165, more like 180-190. If I ever enter an Open Road Race, I just might see.

with everyone who said, if you aren't comfortable driving at high speeds .. don't!!!!! Believe me, I've seen the affect "low confidence" while driving can do ... at any speed. I have a A4 and for the half a second I looked at my speedo one stupid night ... It was between 160-180 ... I will not do that again. I'm glad I'm even here to tell you. "The wise man learns from the mistakes of others .. and the fool learns from his own." Don't be a fool John. I know you're not ... I just had to say it, just to say I did.

Nothing wrong with being concerned about driving that fast. At those speeds, it doesn't take much to have serious consequences. If you don't feel safe driving 125+, then don't. I've not had mine over 115, simply because there is no place here to safely do it and it would be my luck that if I got up to say 150, there would be a nice ticket waiting for me.

If you got caught at 150, I'm fairly certain that there'd be a little more than a ticket. More like something with a tow truck involved and you in the back seat of a cruiser.
