Default zo6 screens

just wondering if the zo6 has same plastic set-up around the fog lights. thinking on moving plastic by fog lights & adding zo6 screens for more air flow any other c5 owner removed these.

thanks [ 1320 dance ]

I took out my stock fog light bezels and replaced them with the Z06 Screens. The fog light bezels were a bear to get out, but thanks to Patches, I got them out. The Z06 Screens pretty much fit flush with the front of the bumper. I installed them with velcro.

I just drilled 4 big holes in the plastic. Easier than getting it out. And you can't see it anyway...

question

If I take out the fog light bezel around the fog lights and use Z06 screens (already have them for appearance sake . . .velcro in) does that affect the fog lights ? If there is no effect on the fog lights then I get more air into the engine compartment........is that right. No effect on the fog lights and the z06 screens protect the opening . . . more air is that what I will get . . . no down side since I already have the screens velcroed in. Please confirm if I understand this correct.

Do you notice any cooler temp on the engine ?

On the Z06, the area behind the screens is open (no plastic filler). Many non-Z06 owners have either removed the plastic inserts or drilled holes in the existing ones to increase air flow to the filter.

Taking out the fog light bezel doesn't affect the fog lights. That way, you get max air intake. I haven't noticed any cooler engine temps. I thought the air coming in from the fog light area helped in the engine air intake. Anyway what ever it does, I took the bezels out instead of drilling holes in them because I might someday put them back in if I want to put it back to stock and sell it.

thanks for the input. . . I guess it helps to get more air into the engine . . I do like the appearance of the Z06 screens. It finishes the car in my opinion. I took a hit yesterday with some garbage flying through the air . . . the front fascia is coming off at the body shop to replace it . . while it is off I might as well have them take off the bezels around the fog lights. I guess that would be a piece of cake for them or am I wrong. It would seem to be cake with the fascia off . . . . comments ? ?

Do search for "Vararam", you'll get TONS of info. Varram replaces those bezels, and it can be done in an evening.

Over the stock intake, you'll get a good 3-4mph trap gain and .2-.3 off your et. And any cold air intake (Vararam, Vortex, Halltechs) will give you crisper acceleration vs a Blackwing or Zip-Tie mod.

HOW???? I followed the manual until I got the bottom panel out and realized I couldn't even see let alone come close to reaching the inboard fasteners on the bezel. What did you do, hire Lilliputians?

Here's the link to the thread when I took my bezels out. Don't laugh at how nervous I was. I had my whole car apart. lol. Took out the 3 bottom panels, then the top radiator support and air intake, then that piece that covers the radiator. I finally got them out.
It's alot of work, but I think it's worth it. I can't remember for sure, but I think the whole thing took me a few hours. I had the car up on ramps.

JeffC5,

YIKES! I read the thread. I think I'll wait till summer is over before I jump into this. Thanks for great response, hope you're healing well.

I didn't loose that much blood! lol I always manage to cut myself anytime I work on my cars. Putting on the Z06 grills was worth it, I think. You should put yours in this weekend! Just do it!
