Rotor install questions...
on installing them this weekend... I'm also gonna paint the calipers while I'm at it.
Anyhoo, does anyone have step by step install instructions with real photos? I got
instructions from Ed B. (Patches?), but it had drawn pictures instead of real
photos. Also, is there anything I should watch out for or be extra careful with?
Can I compress the caliper pistons without damaging the pads? I'm gonna re-use
the current pads. I also got the 14" - 2 piece rear rotors that requires relocating the
calipers... are there any gotchas when doing this? For anyone who's done the
install themselves, any advice you can toss my way will be greatly appreciated...
thanks much...

Take off & put on!!
Get an 18" swivel head ratchet to remove the rear caliper brackets and swap out to the Eradispeeds.
EASY!!!

When you take the caliper off and jiggle the rotor, you will find that they will often just drop onto the deck. It is easy! Just get the torq spec for tightening the calipers back on.

install was not as bad as I thought it would be. The caliper mounting bolts
were hard to undo, but I don't think it was as bad as some folks said.
On the other hand, the left factory rotor was a real biyatch!!! It did not come
off easy! After half an hour of tugging, kicking, spraying with rust remove, etc., I
finally decided that I wasn't gonna use it again anyways so I started wacking it
with a hammer, but it still would not come off! Then I tried to pry it out using my
breaker bar and BAMMM! It finally came off! The right rotor came off with barely
a tug!
It took about 4 hours to replace the front rotors and paint the calipers. The calipers
came out pretty well... the corvette letterings look really good. It was too late to
do the rear rotor replacement, so I'm gonna do it tommorrow (errr, today). Hopefully,
the rears will go as smoothly...

Left to right, right to left.
The slots should be going in the opposite direction.
sure I put them on correctly... look here for baer's rotor direction notice:

The above link shows a left side rotor which matches my left front in this
image:

The slots and the vents direction in both of the above links match.
The factory rotors also had their vents point in the same direction...
You better make sure yours aren't the wrong away around...
This is a new practice, or design, as Baer states. All the previous D&S rotors I've seen, Including GM replacements have the slots going in the direction of travel. I Think it's important to follow Baer's instructions and on any aftermarket rotors to pay attention to the "vanes" inside the rotor as they show.
My concern was for you and your car, not anything else.
Good luck and they do look awesome. Great paint job.

just looking out for a fellow cf brother. Thanks for the compliments... G'nite... it's
4am! gotta get some zzzzz's...
reference, but unfortunately, the install was not successful. I'll post pics of my
attempt instead... showing the problem I ran into...

I was chugging along fine,
taking only about half hour to replace one of the rear rotors (very easy install I thought),
then when I tried to turn the rotor to see if everything was ok I found that the rotor
rubbed against a metal part of the bracket that holds the pads. So, for about 6 hours
after that, I tried to figure out why it was rubbing. I thought maybe the new rotor
(left rear) was bent, so I tried the other new rotor (right rear) and that too rubbed
against the metal bracket. I put both new rotors on my glass top dinner table to
see if there were any bends in them, but both looked perfectly straight. I laid the new
rotors side by side with the factory rotor and they matched well enough in every
aspect... there was a tiny mismatch, but I don't think it was causing the problem.
I tried re-mounting the new rotor over and over hoping that the rubbing would go away,
but it never did. Then I finally realized that the new rotor wasn't going in all the way
flush against the hub (it looked like it wasy going in all they way, but it didn't). Even
after I'd cleaned out all the rust on the hub, the rotor
would still not go flat against the hub. The factory rotor, on the other hand, is
completely flush or flat against the hub. And since the new rotor wasn't completely
flat against the hub (it was on a little bit crooked), it would wobble when you turn it
and hence the rubbing against the metal bracket. LIke I said, I tried for about six
hours, but the rotor would not go in all the way flat. The rotors are perfectly good,
it's just that they don't seem to fit my car. I'm kinda depressed about the whole
thing now... The rotors look awesome... I'm very disappointed they would not fit.
I can't imagine that I'm the only one who's run into this problem. The box for the
rotors says they're for 97 and above vettes. I have an '02, so what gives?
I'm gonna contact Shawn at LAPD tomm. to see if he can help me out (I hope to
arrange for substitute rotors if this issue isn't worked out). In the meantime, I'd
appreciate any advice anyone wants to give...

The Plus 1 should have a Big space between the Rotor hat and Caliper.
the hub that sticks out (I don't know what this is called) goes through is counter sunk,
but I don't think it was counter sunk enough. I'm thinking that's the part that's
bottoming out.

the rotor. Plus the box said it's a Plus Two rotor, not a Plus One. It also says it
fits 97 > vettes, so it should fit my '02.
Anyone else have this rotor and had no problems installing it? By the way, I don't
believe a professional brake shop would have done anything different from what
I did. The procedure itself is simple... nothing complicated about it.

part is 1.75 inches in width. When did you buy yours? Right now, I'm thinking they
put the wrong rotors in the box (the box says the rotors are for 97 > vettes).
Thanks for the replies, btw. It's making me feel a little bit better... I'm still feeling
a little depressed about the whole thing.

I'm sure it'll work out.

Does everyone else with the 14" 2-piece rear rotors from baer have the
rotors with larger disk and smaller hat? If yes, then I can probably correctly
assume that they sent me the wrong rotors... Please reply if you have these
rotors.... thanks much.

Is this an updated rotor for the vette or is it just the wrong rotor? It doesn't
look anything like the rotor in this pic:

The one on the red car has a much smaller hat and bigger disk. The one I got is
the opposite.
