I just started to look for a new 2004 corvette or 2005. I do like the 2004 but undecided about 2005.
I like either yellow or red in 2004. But I do not know which color to choose. I live in connecticut. I got some quotes from dealers on 2004 corvette. They're asking around 41,0000 for 2004 corvette with 1Sb package and polished wheels.
Any suggestions on colors and year.
Go c6. Oh and if you want a manual....no questions getthe c6 I had driven both in manuls and the c5's is clunky compared to the c6. The c6's felt more like the zf 6sp in the c4's.
But I'm a auto man so that wouldn't matter I just like the c6 better.
If it were me buying right now, i'd have a hard time turning down a C6 for a C5. However, as other's have said, GM has work out all the bugs that they are going to fix on the C5, and the owners have fixed the ones GM won't, so with a C5 you would be getting a tested and reliable car. The C6 is a better car, but will have some bugs that we haven't seen yet
Good luck with your decision, i wouldn't want to be in your position now.

I haven't driven a C6 6spd yet but if it shifts like a ZF, forget about the C5. My '92 had the ZF 6spd and it shifted like butter with never a lick of problems. My '03 Coupe (prior to the '04 vert auto) shifted like crap into 2nd gear as well as into 3rd. Several C5 owners in our club have complained of the transmission popping out of 1st gear but I never had that problem. By the way, the 4 spd electronic automatic sucks - it shifts up to the next gear WAY too soon. I understand that the shift pattern can be modified by either Predator or LSEdit AND I heard a shift kit does wonders.

The mn6 Tremec is POS, IMO. The GM Powertrain guys always dog-out the A4's with poor calibration (can be fixed by programming). I still prefer a properly setup A4.

Drive 'em both, then decide. I can almost assure you you won't get a C6 for anywhere near $41K, especially if the cars are loaded with options. Good luck - this could be a tough decision.
This was posted by Steveblonde of Calgary AB from another post. Take a look, it's objective.
Friday was my clubs (Corvettes Unlimited) last cruise of the summer so while at my local dealer(Shaganappi Motors) on unrelated business i asked Gary (the owner) if i could borrow a C6 that they got the day before that was in the showroom. Gary is a great friend as well as a business man, when i told him that there would be 40 guys from the club he said no problem. So out of the showroom i drove in a new Mag Red C6 (I have a 02 Mag red coupe) this is one of the first in the city of Calgary so i was just pumped. I picked up my daughter from school and her first words were "UGLY and daddy if this is yours take it back get your old one back again or walk home" she's 11 and cried when she saw the C5 when i got it she was so happy.
My 1st impressions - love the headlights, hate the taillights, the seats are awesome, the leather is great!. This thing rides like a Cadilac, smooth almost too smooth. (car didnt have Z51). And its small very small.
I then took it to Davenport Motors the local kings of C5 performance and the guys poured all over the car to mixed reviews which given the number of guys was too be expected(but no rave yehs or nays). Back home and my daughter had all her freinds over playing on the drive, well most of them thought i had sold the vette and bought a VIPER. One got too close to the car on his bike and my daughter yelled at him " Get away form the car its not his he just borrowed it he's GETTING HIS BACK TOMMORROW"
To the meeting i go, this is the real test 40 guys and galls all vettes owners of differant generations. No one new i was bringing the C6. HOLLY CRAP what a reception they swarmed over it and i huge number of opinions but most prevalent
1. -looks like a viper
2. hate the headlights
3.love the headlights
4. love the tail
5.hate the tail
6.love the interior
7.hate the brushed crome on the center pod
8.hate the little carbon fiber bits on the door openers
9.love the car
10. steve are you getting one
now onto the cruise this is what ive been looking forward too all day. We put the roof on as it was getting cool and started on our cruise - destination a little restuarant 75 miles away taking back roads all the way, no high speeds as we are in a group but fairly fast.
real impressions- this thing is very classy-very european, its like driving a Jag or Aston Martin the power is very smooth not throw you back in the seat like a C5 its quiet like your mothers Caddy and its smooth like your mothers caddy. the power just rolls on. I almost felt guilty driving in jeans and a golf shirt- should have had Dockers and deck shoes. the interior is smaller - alot smaller I am 6'2'' 200lbs and its very snug. the seats are awesome ,quality is great and super comfortable the stereo leaves a lot to be desired. Touch screen -lots of finger prints the screen folds down to expose the CD/DVD what a pain.
conclusion
Do you enjoy fine dinning with valet parking? Do you and the misses like the opera? Are you getting more refined in you later years? Are you tired of the seat of your pants driving that you get with the C5? Are you planning to visit the Prince of Monaco with your new car?
If you can answer yes to these questions then the C6 is for you.
If you like your car to be RAW, sporty, manly, a little rough around the edges, then stick with the C5
Chevy has done a great job refining the car its a C5.75 it may on paper be a faster stonger more powerful car but it doesnt feel like it. It just feels refined - grey poupon anyone?
Just my opinion
And to Gary at Shaganappi Motors THANK YOU you guys rock. This was a real thrill for me. And the guys at the club to see touch and feel the new C5.75 And buy the way 2 guys from the club will be in next week as one wants a yellow one and one wants a orange one.
