Default pup cats

I was told today that all the new vetts came with these pre cats or pup cats. My Z does not have them is this something that they take off on the Z's and what years have them? Also does the Z have High flow cats on it from the factory? this 03 we just bought is alot louder than my 00 with the Z06 Ti's on it. now it did not have the pre cats either why is the Z so much louder. I am not complaining just curious. I love the way this thing sounds very agressive at idle and WOT. I love this car! shes all stock for now but not for long!

As far as I know no Z06s (or any corvettes?) have pre cats, but definitely not the Z06s. The reason the exhaust is louder on the real Z06 is because the Z06 has a lot less insulation on it so the sound comes into the cabin a lot more. I think the exhaust manifolds may be higher flowing as well but don't quote me on that

Here is some helpful information on the changes from the 01 Z06 to the newer Z06:
This upgrade to the LS6 engine's output is the result of new hollow stem valves, a higher-lift camshaft, a low restriction mass air flow (MAF) sensor and a new low restriction air cleaner design. Eliminating the PUP converter from the exhaust system enables better flow of spent gasses and reduces vehicle weight, without compromising Corvette's NLEV (National Low Emission Vehicle) status.

This will cause the 02 and newer to be louder and Mike04Z06 is also correct, that there was I believe 8 lbs less material in the Z06 over the others.

'01 LS1s and LS6s had the pre-cats.

Your Z is louder now than the '00 with the Z06 Ti mostly because of the extra 55hp under the hood.
