.. that would mean leaving the garage and then it could get in contact with rain. It's just too expensive a car to drive everyday and through the conditions.
... unless you're like me and dont care about all that.

I used my '99 as a daily driver and for the first year and a half of ownership, I used my '00 as one. The C5 makes for a very nice DD, so don't worry about that. And since you are relocating to sunny Florida, you should not have any snow/ice problems with the car. Good luck on your search.
My 2000 Coupe is a daily driver and I love it. Nothing like getting the heart pumping early in the am on the way to work. Also makes that evening rush hour traffic bearable.
Daily Driver? Why not? I've been driving my new '04 for a year now. Makes the drive fun when you can open it up. If I had to sit in stop n go traffic it wouldn't be much fun though. Parking and running errands make you think about where you're going.

Mine's definitely a DD. Although it keeps me busy cleaning it everyday, I get the thrill of firing it up and crusing in it to work every morning.
My parking spot is right across from the room I teach in and I can see my coupe just by looking out the windows. If I ever see anybody getting too close to it, I'll just push that red button on the key fob...
First off, buy a jetski so you can get to work during the hurricane's. I'd buy a tarp to keep the back carpet clean as the clubs and bag pick up crap off the course.
The C5 is a great daily driver rural or city. She's comfy and gets better mpg than most cars with half the h.p.
Make sure to keep it waxed and waxed to protect it from all the road grime and keep her pretty.
I used to use C5's as a daily driver...they're great at it!
Our CE Coupe is a daily driver. Why buy one if you don't enjoy the pleasure of driving it as much as possible. Sure, it looks great in the garage but its more fun to drive than to look at.
I use mine as a daily driver....80,000 and counting. One thing to consider (or maybe not) is the cost of maintenance is a bit higher than your average family sedan, at least for me that has been the case. From oil changes, tires, etc..it can add up if it is a concern. Otherwise, it gets decent gas mileage and don't forget the smile you have when driving..worth something!!
My 98 C5 Vert is a great DD in metro Atlanta! You might think about investing in a speedbra for the front clip to reduce the rock and sand chips...the gas mileage isn't bad either if you can keep your accelerator peddle off the carpet!
Good luck in your purchase....you won't regret it as a DD and you'll never have to apologize for the looks you'll get!
Mine's a garage queen ('99 vert) and I'm proud of it. However, I had to rescue the garage queen from the approach of Hurricane Ivan and used it as my DD for the past week. To be honest, I was thinking of buying a coupe as a DD and keep the vert as the garage queen. Would owning 2 C5 be seen as demented?
I am going to be making the move from the frozen tundra of central NY to sunny south florida in a couple months. I am going to buy a C-5 no question. But how I use it will determine how much I spend on it. I just want to hear people's opinion on using their C-5 as an everyday driver. No kids, so I am not concerned about the people space. As long as he clubs fit I am happy with cargo room. Thanks in advance.
I used both C5's as DD that's what I bought a vette for--to drive !
My 2000 Coupe is a daily driver and I love it. Nothing like getting the heart pumping early in the am on the way to work. Also makes that evening rush hour traffic bearable.
Just hit 85,000 miles and loved every second of it.
No kids, so I am not concerned about the people space.
I have 3 kids, what does that matter? Just get a beater car with lots of space - done.
Since I got it, I've been driving it daily, but only because I just got it; I want to start driving the other car 2-3 days a week to keep the miles off it.
But, I can tell you, to me, there IS no better daily driver. It gets FAR better gas mileage than my little Miata, it has power when you want/need it, it's fun as hell to drive, handled unbelievable, it's a coupe so the top is off a lot... just can't beat it.
It's not as good slithering around cars in traffic as the Miata though and I can't fit in to parking spots between disgusting, fat pig suv's like I can with my Miata; that's about the only downside!
