So what does this ford concept have to do with the C5 General section?
This thread should have been posted in the off topic or other car section, you know once the mods see the thread it will get moved to one of those sections anyways.
Saw it. Those guys were having lots of fun. No way will you get the Shelby concept for $60K will all the machined aluminum parts. Car is too boxey. IMO.

Great looking car. If it came anywhere close to the Vette price, it will be a challenger. I love my C5, but heck, I'd consider one even if it didn't come with the V10.
I saw the show -- great inside look at the design process for a new car design. There's supposed to be a look at the C6 process next Wednesday night on Discovery.
About the car design; it does look mighty good, but I'm not sure if I like how the cabin sits. Seems like the hood is taller than the driver to me, and that the driver sits awful low in comparison to the rest of the car. Personally, I wouldn't buy it.
Granted, IF they do build it (which is highly unlikely), I doubt buying it would be an option anyway as I'd expect it to be in excess of $150k. Ford is throwing a lot of money at these high excitement concepts, and just as Dodge did with the Viper, they've injected a lot of excitement into the brand by building them (Ford GT).
GM is admittedly putting more emphasis on cars, but they, in my opinion, need to build a true elite "Halo" car that can go up against the supercars of the world. I'd prefer it not be a "Super" Corvette as I think it needs to stay true to its roots, but rather a Cadillac, Pontiac or something else. They should have built the Cadillac Cien when the excitement was so great there. They would have sold enough to recoup their costs, and the intangible rewards would have been great and also would have helped erase the "Cadillacs are for old people" perception.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
