Features that uphold resale value on C5?
I am looking to purchase a gently driven 2000-2002 coupe with targa top and HUD. I also will be a gentle driver and want to maximize the resale value and I will probably only keep the car for a year or two. What options/features would best help me to uphold the resale value?
Thank you!
Leslie
If you get an A4 make sure and get a 3:15 gear ratio.
OEM wheels, make a car worth more also.
I am new to this and do not know what OEM means nor do I know what A4 and a 3:15 ratio are. Kindly describe in more detail. Thank you!
Leslie
Just kidding, I agree with the previous posts. I also think you will do better with one that has all options. I think when people are buying a late model high tech car, they want all the gizmos.
Upgraded wheels such as HRE, etc can really help out, or even an upgrade to a later style wheel (like thin spokes on 97-99). As you're looking at 00-02, I'd stay away from 01's, merely b/c some people tend to shy away from the "oil consumption year" even though most are likely fixed by now...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Corvette is a hole in the road into which you pour money. Especially if you hang around here. Mod Fever, Modaholism, Mod Mania, they run rampant through the threads of this wonderful Forum
C5's are a dime a dozen. Gone are the days of the "appreciating" Corvette.
My best advise is:
1) Buy one that's loaded to the gills with all the goodies. ALL the goodies. And the color YOU like best.
2) Drive it like you stole it. Like you hate the thing. See how fast you can cook off the Stock Goodyear Runflats. (video of that is always enjoyed on the Forum). Forget about resale. It's not an investment. It's an enjoyment/entertainment expense and babying it won't net any real financial gain. It's yours. Enjoy it while you have it. (see sig under "Depreciation Mods". )
3) Trade it in on a C6 in 2-3 years and enjoy the fact that for comparatively little cost, you provided yourself with the opportunity to thrash and flog the greatest American Muscle Car ever built for at least a couple of years. The buyer must truly beware, but the C5 is a highly durable toy.
4) Ease into the C6 and enjoy the stature in a few years. Won't take long for them to become a dime a dozen either. But with 400hp, who cares?
Good Luck with your decision. I say do it and enjoy it.
Michael
