I'm debating on putting the front license plate on. Contemplating on the best looking way to do this. Was thinking of the color matched smoothie surround plate but also want the clear pastic protection for the vanity plate. Have contacted a couple stores and am getting the impression it's one or the other.
Has anyone used a smoothie surround and a clear cover combo???

Best way to do this is to...go without a front plate!! Looks so much better!
Just drive judiciously on public roads so LEO's have no reason to stop you...
I think the front plate ruins the look of the car. I got ticketed for not having one a few months ago. I went to court and it was dismissed, when I told the judge I have it on the car now. That was a lie, and I’ll continue to run without one, even if I get fined. I would just think of it as the cost to have a nice appearance mod.
Still haven't seen a single C6 with front plate attached. Pictures please....
Boy, if anybody doesn't like the look of a front plate on a C5, the C6 plate bracket is
The designer of that thing must have been in a hurry to get home the day he came up with that.
I keep the front plate in the car behind the passenger seat to show the LEO if I get stopped. The only time I actually put it on is to go thru bi-annual inspection. Then it come back off again.
I am going to carry mine in the car
around town it'll be OK
but when you go to shows or rallies, some small towns live on stuff for revenue- i will just toss on the dash so it be on display
down the road i would like a license plateless bumper, then i can ask, where am i supposed to mount it?
We have to run front plates in Maryland, which sucks. I shelled out the 69.00 for the smoothie plate surround in Mag Red, and I am very pleased. Looks 10x better than the stock matte black one. The smoothie is just the cheap black one you can get for $15 or so painted OEM colors, so the match is perfect. If I had a black vette, I'd just paint it myself and save $55! Other colors would be more difficult to match. Saw a cheesy one at Carlisle that some dude with a Torch Red (you think that'd be easy to match, right?) vert had painted himself and it looked like @*%#! JMHO

telling a lie to the judge is without question the dumbest thing anyone could do. If that judge knew you lied you would be spending a weekend in jail or worse. Your wallet would be empty too. I do not think most people realize how serious that offense is. The court is just not some idiot sitting there putting money in the state's pocket. A public court is just about as high a public office as you are going to find anywhere.
BTW. I have operated my car with the plate at all times. I have used velcro to affix the cover. I recently got my stock surrond cover that came with the car new painted. It looks pretty nice with the color combination of my car which is Lemans blue and our Ohio plate is red, white and blue. The plate reads C BLU VET that setup looks nice, at least to me. I do not think it ruins the appearance. But all of this is subjective but lying to a judge . . . FOOL
I put mine on when TX raised the fine from $30 to $200. Then every small town had a ready made money generator... I used the black surround and, after a couple months, it didn't look as bad as it did at first. I didn't notice any fewer complements on the looks from people either. I think the only people that care are Vette nuts and car show judges.
But all of this is subjective but lying to a judge . . . FOOL
First of all there is no reason to use words like fool!
I'm not going to respond in the same manner, but I will say this. I went to court with a photo of my car with the front plate on. I should clarify my original statement. The plate IS actually on the car under the Corvette filler plate. I have a screwdriver in the car, which I can use to remove the cover in less than 30 seconds. If I get stopped again my response will be "OH, I was at a show and forgot to remove the cover, I'll do it now". When I said I lied, that basically meant I'm not displaying the plate, which is the same thing as not having it on the car. I didn't feel it necessary to go into all this detail that I'm doing now. The courthouse I had to appear at was around 50 miles from where I live. I had never had to appear there before in my entire life. So lets say that by some one in ten thousand chance, I end up in front of that same judge for the same thing in the future. They have no proof that I wasn't actually displaying the plate at my first appearance, and decided not to display it at some later time. I think that being concerned about the WAY outside chance of that happening is unnecessary. Oh, and I'm sure that everybody who appears before a judge is 100% truthful and the ones that aren't are sitting in license plate prison
So like I said, I’ll take my chances and be a DANGEROUS OUTLAW!
You can act as outraged as you want but my comments stand. There is a meaning for the word I used. I choose my words with great care.
You appear not to understand or accord the court the respect it deserves. Yes, you are ! !
You attempt to be cavalier about the issue.
You even attempt to inject a little humor.
I stand by my previous comments.
I am an officer of the court here in Ohio. I speak out when there is a need. Your comments certainly needed to be criticized. You are now compelled to criticize me. Go ahead SteveB.
