Default Air Conditioner Question

I have a question about my a/c unit. I have a 98 C5 with dual zone climate control. I have rode in a couple Vettes before but I never paid much attention to the A/Cs, but I know in mine, the fan dosen't blow directly on you like it did in every other car Ive owned. It still get nice and cool inside usually, but this was just something I noticed. Is this just the way the dual zone on the C5s work? I have also noticed that when it is humid outside, it is really bad about fogging over the windshield.

If you have the A/C on and you can feel air blowing out the defrost vents or lower vents you more than likely have a vacuum leak causing the air distribution to go in default mode. This will decrease the amount of air coming out the A/C vents

Yup, that sounds like it. I can hear the fans blowing but it seems as if most comes out the defrost and lower vents. What can be done to correct this?

Usually, the vacuum lines that route under the battery tray get deteriated from battery acid. You will need to remove the battery and tray and trace the vacuum lines to look for damage. It is not a fun task because the lines enter and exit the main engine wiring harness in a few places under the battery and can be somewhat difficult to locate.
Also,in the event that the intake manifold was removed for some reason,it is possible for someone to neglect reconnecting the vacuum line to the back of the intake which is the vacuum source for the a/c controls

You can also have another COMMON problem! The AC controler vacuum line gets it's vacuum from the rear of the intake manifold. If the vacuum line comes off or cracks/splits you will loose vacuum to the controller unit and all of your air will come out of the defrost vents and you will NOT be able to shift it to any of the other vents.

Here is where the vacuum line plugs into:

The recommendation about the acid destroying the vacuum line is a fact. If the vacuum line is properly connected at the back of the manifold, then check for a damaged vacuum line down below the battery.
