I have a 2002 convertible which I just purchased in July. The top is black and when it gets wet the water beads up really good. It only has 6k miles on it and has always been garaged and covered when not in use. I called the person I bought it from and he said he had not put anything on it. Naturally I want the top to stay looking like new and want it to continue to bead up when wet. A few weeks ago I was at a cruise-in and my car was parked with about a dozen other Vettes and it started to rain. Several of them were verts but my mine was the only one that beaded up. The other Vette owners asked me what I had put on my vert top to make it bead up. What product works best for preserving a rag top and making it bead up when wet?
I use Ragtop cleaner and conditioner on my 2002 triple black vert. Also, when washing your car use a sponge to gently wash the top so as to not leave any lint. And when drying the top use a chamois. Before applying the Ragtop conditioner be sure the top is completely dry and lint free. I lift up the top a bit and slide towels in between the top and body paint. I also do the same to the windshield. That way I can apply the conditioner very liberal and not worry about any overspray. Good luck!
My top is just about a year and half old, always garaged but sometime drive in the rain as well ...
The water still beads on mine but I'm feeling the top starts look a bit old now Look like I have to start putting the Regtop stuff.
Where do y'all buy Ragtop stuff?
Thanks,
-Mike
