Default Tips/Tricks for installing new rear side-markers?

Hey all,

I've had a pair of side-markers sitting in my garage for a while now, and I think I'm finally ready to install them.

Any tips or tricks for removing the old and replacing the new? There sure isn't much room to work with up along side of the mufflers!

I guess I could use a quick how-to, if someone would share...

Thanks, folks!

-Kirk

PS -- If anyone wants to share pics of how these orange ones look on a MY Z, I'd appreciate it!

It also doesn't hurt to have the ratcheting flat wrenches, so maybe a quick trip to sears is in order! It took me about 15 min. to replace the markers.

Ah... And here I was thinking I had to get my arm up inside the rear quarter panel via the mufflers! Thanks!

Now, I've always been nervous about removing my tail lights, mainly 'cause I know I'm dealing with plastic tabs and whatnot back there (and never wanted to strip anything). Am I in danger of harming anything when removing/reinstalling the tail lights?

Also, in terms of removing the backing nuts on the side markers, are they more of a pressure-fit nut, or do they, in fact, screw on? (It looks like they just kind of twist onto the plastic posts, but don't really "screw" on -- that is, it appears that there are no real threads to deal with. Is this true?)

Thanks, folks!

I took off my tail lights to install the louvers and was very careful when putting back not to strip. It seems 1 of the screw holes/rubber was probably stripped at the factory as it turns out, however, at least it doesnt seem to back out on its own

Just take care when putting back not to overtighten. Not sure what proper torque should be on them, I just made sure once I felt pressure after they looked back in place that I did not turn any further.

Default Side Markers

The metal nut cuts threads in the plastic post. Take it slow and easy. A trich that I did was to cut the threads on the post before installing the light on the car. Was easier that way.
Good luck
