Here's a link to the article. I thought this was an exaggeration so I looked it up. http://www.nydailynews.com/09-28-200...p-202893c.html

Here's the most interesting paragraph

"Under the bill, would-be drag racers could receive the same penalties if merely caught in acts demonstrating that a race "is imminent."

That includes having equipment in vehicles for injecting speed-boosting nitrous oxide; making an explicit invitation to race; wagering on the race's outcome; raising a vehicle vertically, and/or spinning a vehicle rapidly in a circle.

Ostensibly, that section would allow an undercover cop to move in before a race got started."

Get used to this kind of nonsense regulation. The mind police are working overtime. John Ashcroft and the Patriot Act have a great deal more in store for us, as we move toward fascisim. How many people knew that NYPD arrested 1700 people during the Republican Convention. They were literally corralled, police shot nets and barricaded entire blocks, and anyone caught in the roundup was detained for up to 72 hours without access to a phone, food, water, etc. 95% of those detained will not have to go to Court, because the arrests were so ludicrous. A Fed Judge finally intervened and fined NY City up to $500K for violating constitutional rights. The Mayor and Police Comm. denied anyone's rights were violated. I'm retired after 30 yrs. LEO career and this truly sickens me! Mass arrests are unconstitutional, but the pendulum has now swung too far to the right. Government is out of control enforcing minutia against the taxpayer, while the hard core criminals enjoy the over crowded revolving door justice system. It is going to get much worse. Hope you don't inadvertently get your name on a terrorist list. http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-196196c.html

That's absolute !! So what's next.....muscle cars in general?? Any cars that produces x number of horsepower? Cars that have active handling that can take corners at high speeds? Cars that only have two doors, possibly indicating it's a sports car and will be used for racing (oops, alot of ricers are 4 doors...scratch that one) Kinda like wiping before you potty...just doesn't make any since

Wonder what would happen if I drove the Vette around town with my helmet on??? Maybe add some driving gloves, a full suit, etc. Maybe the officers would think I'm trying to race......

I don't see how that can fly. What happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? How can you be arrested for something you never did?

Just because you have nitrous in your car doesn't mean you use it on the street. That's what the dragstrip is for.

If they somehow get away with this other power adders will be next.

I heard about this a few weeks ago. I heard it was NYS not NYC though.. In any case, it is the usual BS we have to put up with here..

Editorial............................... ...............

The say crime is down in this state. Prisons are now closing. People are loosing jobs. This is only because the state doesnt go after the dope dealers and users like they used to. (Guess guys runnin NO2 are more dangerous than the dope dealers and junkies.) Gotta love it.. You can see them on the corners in most cities in this state. Cops mostly chase them off the street. The court system encourages it. Arrests cost overtime. Thats less work than arresting them, processing them, arraigning them and having the polititions release them back on the streets to make their "crime numbers" look good for election time..

I gotta add the only reasons all those people were arested in NYC durring the convention was for revenue(help balance the budget) and at make the midget mayor appear to be a tough guy.

Wait till we reinstitute the draft.. Watch and se how the rich people are able to help thier kids dodge the draft.. Legally of course!! How many of our fine elected officials have children in Irag??

HMMMMMMMMM

Vent vent vent.....

I feel better now!!

How does raising a vehicle vertically show that your about to race does this mean that if I drive my 4x4 chevy with a 4 inch lift around town that I'm looking for a race ...after all it is raised vertically

It is talking about how the car moves "up" a little when you load it up against the brake.

If this gets passed into actual law, it will never hold up in court, but I am sure people will still get busted and have to pay the fees and expenses to fight it. I am glad I do not live there
