If after you try the polishing compound by hand and you still have a haze, you might benefit from someone who knows how to use a high speed polisher. As was mentioned before, don't mess it up beyond what it is right now. The paint is very delicate , but with the right tools and supplies, it can be fixed. You can e-mail either Dave or me and we would be more than happy to help you out.
Ever notice how any thread that my good friend Antonio Bananas starts just begs to go off on tangents in a distant galaxy far far away?
Its a good thing he's rich and can afford to buy two Corvette's....one to take apart, use as a speeding bullet, use as a door stop, practice picking up babes in and now as a mural for his artistic endeavors with grit of various coarseness grades...and then another 'Vette to use as a parts car to use for replacing all the parts he needs to replace on the first one.
I just don't know where I get this sense of humor from.
Instead of investing your money and time in destroying your car you should start to buy some mods.

i'm glad i can be a little help feeling better about yourself seeing such off loony like me! by the way, nice vocabulary! that's what i need...with some grammar lessons as well.
There's lots of easy ways to fix this problem that you created.
Have you tried a hack saw yet?? If that doesn't work a 3lb hammer will correct most any problem. If you can't correct this with those basic tools, I would recomend that you go to your local Military Supply Store and purchase one of the back pack style flame throwers.
Obviously if the fine scratch turned into a thick dull streak you weren't near aggressive enough with your choice of product and applicator.
I suggest a 4 1/2" high speed grinder with a cut off disc. Great on scratches and bugs come off almost instantly.
The grinder is real cool and something to give the kids when they run out of sparklers on July 4th. Wait till dark and let them go to it. Will teach them different metal hardness too. Soft metals equal big yellow sparks. Very hard make fine brilliant white.
Remember, always drink heavily when using power tools.
I'm a detailing fanatic. I am the kind of guy who enjoys spending 10 hours on a Saturday detailing cars.
You are in way over your head. You have two options right now.
1) Spend at least, minimum, 4 to 6 hours researching at Autopia before you buy, or touch anything else.
2) Find someone on Autopia in your area to come and either fix or teach you to fix the issue you have created.
I would do it for another vette owner in my area if they needed it. Rubbing compound is never never NEVER the first thing you use on a car's finish. It's the LAST thing before sandpaper.

I thought that sandpaper was OK as long as it was wet sanded??
Wet sanding is a very serious process. Rubbing compound is almost as serious. That was the point I was trying to make.
Sounds like you are pretty savvy on the detailing thing. The other day people were having problems getting these "love bugs" off the nose of cars. What do you suggest. I find the 3-M green pads for pots and pans take them off right now.

muhahaha this show how others have been making fun rather than trying to help. and i only enjoy all your cruel comments about my headache.
i always drink anyway, so don't worry cuz i'll be drunk doing anything around my car. when i installed the z06 rear brEAk ducK on my vert, i made sure i was drunk as hell to get rid of the anxiety of cutting into a brand spankin new, my first ever vette with less than 1000miles.
as usual, thank you all very much for spending your time with me.
have a nice weekend! do NOT drink and drive. just booz n cruiz~*
Even though there are good well-intentioned suggestions above, none of us can actually look at the problem first hand. Best advice I can give you is to go to a local body shop, and ask them for suggestions. You may wind up there anyway if you try something above, and one of us guessed wrong...
