Default Active handling system

I just wonder if the people who have this system on their vette keep it on or off.My manual tells to keep it on all the time but i think since i have had the car for almost a year now it has not been on because i had a message come on saying it was activated i think i hit the button with my elbow and that turned it on ,not a good place to put that button on my 03.Let me know what you guys think.Thank you Charlene

My thoughts on it are if you have it leave it on. If it becomes intrusive turn it off. The location on the c5 really stinks. On the c4 it is up on the gauge panel so there is no nocking it unintentually. I know there are some things you can buy where you can adjust the level of intervention. I think it is a good thing, for me at leat it most never comes on during normal driving. When I get spirited or began acting mischevious I turn it off.

Kinda depends on how you drive. If you like to 'control' all the handling of turns and curves and don't think you can make a mistake (i.e. you'll never hit a 'slick' spot in the road - for which you aren't prepared , then turn it off.

If, on the other hand, you don't take each curve at maximun speed or maybe would like some help in the event of some unforeseen event (i.e. black ice), then turn it on.

You paid for it, and it can't hurt you - but it can save your life!!!

USE IT!!!

I leave it on all the time on the road. I turn it off for autocrossing, and leave it in competitive mode for drag racing.

I never really thought much about it, even after I read through the owners manual. That all changed one day when I was getting onto the Interstate just as it had started to rain. There were several trucks approaching so I had to accelerate to get into the proper lane. This was near a truck stop therefore there was a lot of oil on the pavement which we all know will make the road slick especially at the start of rain. When I punched it, the rear end started to slide, but the active handling/traction control kicked in and did it's job. I always have it on and don't have any problem with the location of the button. I would only turn it off when wanting to have a little fun at the proper locaion.

I leave it on for most driving - 'spirited' and drag racing requires Competition Driving Mode (IMHO).

I would not turn it completely off, but Comp Mode is a blast!

Can't wait to get it on the road course next year and see if off is better than comp mode!

Charlene,

The AH system defaults to ON when you start the car. And I do not believe that there is a way to override that. If you do anything while driving, that would cause the AH to activate (take control; not turn on) the DIC will tell you that AH has activated. The message will go away after a short while, if you are back to "normal" driving.

You must have been "driving it lilke it's meant to be driven"

Please, leave it ON always unless you are racing on a course. It can keep you from having an accident.

On dry pavement the car sticks like glue without traction control or active handling. The only time I leave it on is if it is raining.
