Default IS it do it yourself?

I have really been wanting to lower my car since i got my wheels on, and was wondering if it was something i could do myself? Are there special tools required to complete the job? When i say do it yourself i mean can i do it in my garage with jacks and jackstands and standard tools? Will my results be the same as if i paid my local Vette Shop to do it?
Thanks for your help,
Joe

It's so simple, after you doing your car, you'll be begging your friends to have you lower their's!

Do a search - lots of threads on it!

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=27&TopicID=1

Don't cut the rear bushing like in the above directions. Just leave three threads showing. If you want it lower (like below) 6 1/2 grade 8 bolts with peened nuts are better than cutting the bushing!

So i can go out, jack up the car and loosen these bolts up? I dont have to compress a spring or anything, never really looked at my suspension so i am new to this.
Thanks again,
Joe

So easy it doesn't have to be done by professional!

Thanks again,

Check out the instructions. You'll have to compress the front springs to do it right, but they're leaf not coil springs and a jack will do that, too.

I had the same exact question as you a few months ago. It sounded too easy. Well, I did it myself on the stock bolts and it was very easy. The hardest part was jacking the car up.

Another question on this subject, should an alignment be done after lowering?

Patches and Evil Twin, what a temendous combination of knowledge. Except Patches is so much nicer.... Just kidding, Evil has helped me quite a bit, but now I'm jealous of how terrific his car looks.

P.S. Hey Evil, what the hell is that huge flying bird above the front of your car???

I swear I did mine yesterday and all four corners took less than an hour.
I did not even remove the front tires!

Very simple. Just did mine last week. I had it up and down about 100 times until I got it where I want it. I went ahead and took ALLKARs advice and dropped the ball joint, threaded a hacksaw in there and snip, snip front was done!. The rear was even easier, replaced with 8" bolts and tada! All done in the confines of my own garage! Now the only problem is I need to by a new Harbor Freight low profile jack to do oil changes. Oh well, more junk for the garage!

Evil-Twin? This is a stock drop?

You don't have larger sized tires or somthin' 'cause it looks like it's damn near rubbin' the tires in the wheel wells!

Please tell me, what did you do to get it down on the ground like that.

BTW, you've got THE most awesome set of rear brake air ducts I've ever seen.
