I just got my '99 FRC about a month ago and noticed a bunch of threads about the CL hanging up on people. I didn't pay much attention to it b/c at the time, I didn't have a C5. My question is though, can the steering column lock while your driving it? I can't imagine driving the car at high speeds and then having the steering wheel lock. It looks like this would REALLY concern GM and they'd try to fix it before someone really gets hurt or worse. BTW, I tried searching for this but the search feature is still teh suck

Yeah , lets get back to the real mods.....Like my Carpets!!!!!!!!
About to purchase a Cd changer.....anyone know how much the cables from the changer to the front of the car cost? Best place to get them?>???? Do tell........!
The problem is this subject has simply been beat to death on CF.
You'll get some waving NHTSB and/or police reports alleging that the column did lock at speed, but then none with proof that it actually did.
So it becomes an endless debate that most are simply tired of.
Why not check to make sure your car has had the recall work done on it? If it is an A4 and the recall has been done then you should be fine. If it is a M6 then you might consider the CLB route.
