Thanks to QuikZilver's bum shoulder, I was able to install the Breathless shifter in my Z06. It took about 30 minutes and would have been well worth if it took all day.
The shifts are nice and concise - 1 to 4 are very easy to find, fifth and six are O.K - no worse than stock. Downshifting is greatly improved over the stock and hurst shifter. IMHO!
The shifter has the softest springs installed (doubt you'd want it much stiffer unless you are an ox!). Even my wife thought the shifter was just fine to shift (Darn it!).
The BPP shifter costs a bit more, but I would generally say it is worth it based upon my use of a stock shifter, hurst shifter and the BPP.
I've seen quite a few comments from those who have tried both the Hurst and the BPP, all recommending the BPP over the Hurst. I'm beginning to steer in that direction, although I did see one description of a short boot that indicated that it fits all short-throw shifters except BPP.
Did you install a short-boot? If so, from where did you purchase it?

Thanks again to QuikZilver for the shifter....
A couple more questions: Did you purposely choose the angled (forward or backward) version or do you have this one because it was a good deal? I've seen the straight version going for $207. Is that a decent price?

Yes and Yes. For me, I wanted the angle. It puts the shifter over and closer to you and allows you to line the shifter up to your arm/shoulder , not lining yourself up to the shifter. Its just my preference, but I sure like it!
Seems like the biggest downfall to some of the aftermarket shifters is spirited/road course downshifting. The angled shaft of the BPP shifter makes for a great road course shifter.
If you notice the previous post, it shows the shifter in first gear. Hope it helps...

...good points - now I'm leaning toward the angled version! By the way, I'll bet the difference in height between yours and Vettehunting's shifter setups is because of the *****. The ball may not be threaded as deeply as the OEM ****.
Matt69-Z06...Glad you really like the shifter. I thought it was great, but this d@mn shoulder couldn't take even the softest springs.
For all to know: I ordered this shifter direct from BPP (they give forum members a 10% discount). The short boot was ordered from Nate at the Corvette Garage and is a Vette Essentials boot. The shifter was ordered with the angled handle.
If you do not have a major shoulder injury, this is a great shifter. I had virtually no noise vibration from it. My only recommendation is that you do not use the bolts that BPP includes. Go out and get 4 grade 5 or higher bolts. The bolts that were included were not graded. I snapped one when I was torquing it down.
Difference between Vettehuntings and Matt's could be that Vettehunting has a straight handle or the set of holes that the handle was mounted to. When I put it together (don't know if Matt changed this), I had the handle mounted in the front holes to shift the handle back.
Again, Matt...thank you very much for the smooth transaction. I am sorry it took me a couple extra days to get it shipped (I hate hurricanes!!!), thanks for being patient with me.
Neil

I changed the handle all around and ended up back at your setting!
