So, I go to get my car back and my service rep says that the car already had the 'new' column lock motor / parts installed quite a while ago (I bought it 5 months ago). So all they did was reflash the computer with the new programming.
From what I've read on the forum, there seem to be differing opinions on what the new programming does. Does anyone have the definitive answer?
In any case, I'm getting a CLB so I won't have to worry about this any longer.
I am somewhat....but I did the CLb in less than 30minutes. Just be careful when taking the plastic off around the steering wheel. It certainly is worth the peice of mind after reading all the CL posts.
This will continue until everyone realizes that the CL is going to BREAK and the only real remedy is the CLB.
Wake up people, your CL will jam on the day that you need your car most. If you follow the directions the CLB install is easy. I too was worried, but with a bit of patience I was done in 45 mins. and I am a 6'2" guy weighting in at 240 lbs (not much room under the dash for me).
