Default Damn column lock bit me!

I finally got bit by the dreaded column lock bug.

I've been thinking of installing the CLB as a precaution, but now my baby is at the dealer getting the recall work done. It's an MN6, so I'm not too excited about that. My service rep is going to get back to me with the details of the 'fix'.

I imagine I'll be ordering the CLB now. :o

Luckily, the tow truck driver builds lowriders for fun so he was super careful when loading and unloading my car on the flatbed.

Sorry to hear you got the "bug". Had mine fixed the first part of August and haven't had any problems. Good Luck.

I have an 01 MN6 took me 45 mins taking my time to put the CLB in.

I was a bit afraid to do it, but my wife said you just did the Halltech Stinger upgrade so you might as well tackle the next MOD.

My friend also did his this weekend in the same amount of time. The directions online are straight forward and it is easy. I think now I could push it out in 15 mins or so....

Piece of mind now every time I start the car and don't here that stupid lock...

This will be the meanest post I have ever listed yet

because you knew better!

Good luck getting it fixed. I had mine ordered days before getting my brand new 04' and had it installed within 1 hour of parking my car. It was next to the skip shift on the mods counter in the garage.

I think I should open up a traveling CLB shop. I could make millions.

To all watching this thread: GET A CLB!

Rather you do the recall or not, if you have a manual - get it. Period. $50 to $75 and you never have to worry again and you can then post mean responses!

Auto? Get the recall done, now!

OK
OK
I thought the dealer took care of it when I took it in for an oil change, but a forum member was nice enough to PM me and tell me they just reprogrammed the computer, so I just purchase the CLB from Thunderracing.com and they have lowered the price to $49.99 (55 with shipping) so there is some incentive to get one. You guys have scared me enough, now I just need the ***** to actually put it in.

I just installed my CLB from Thunder Racing. It was VERY EASY so don't be a afraid to do it.The hardest part was taking off the knee panel which was easy so that shows you the simplicity. No more worries.....$50 for piece of mind...yeah worth it

I had the CL 1500 miles from home on the same day the recall came out. Dealer ordered the recall parts, put them in, still CL (the recall does not fix the problem).....the problem is the CL motor goes bad and needs replaced....even though I was out of warranty, the out of town dealer said "lets pretend you had extended warranty, so I'll just charge you the $50 deductable" to which I said

Hey Keith,

You are a good sport. Hopefully you understood that I was smiling when I wrote it but seriously feel bad for you but then.....I NOTICED YOU HAD A 97 ALSO....so you are no novice. So now I must ridicule you again. No, seriously, I don't wish bad luck on anyone and you seem pretty level headed about it. Hope you get the car back soon.

No worries. I wouldn't have posted if I didn't know what was coming. This is hopefully serving as a public service announcement for all MN6 owners to BUY THE CLB. I had my 97 for two years and never got bit. I had it coming I guess.

I can't tell you how many CLB threads I've read over the years.

The parts should be in tomorrow so I can get back on the road. Now, off to get my CLB ordered!
