Default Racing Jack Height

I want to buy a racing jack for my undelivered Z06 and will be sharing it with my neighbor who has a 98 Viper. Is a 3" starting height low enough to clear the door sills and reach the jack points? Thanks!

Yes it is and I am interested in what jack you are buying and where you are getting it. I would like to have one. I am currently using the scissors jack out of one of my other cars to lift the car high enough to get my regular floor jack under it to do the final lifting.

Thanks.

US General makes a great aluminum racing jack that works perfectly on our cars. You can get it from Harbor Freight for around $129.

I purchased a aluminum jack from Sam's Club. Looks like the same as the US General. about the same price.

Dont forget to get jacking pucks for your vette.

I have been using a small piece of 2 x 4 thus far. Do you have a recommendation for the jacking pucks as well?

Thanks for the info on the jack. This forum is a fantastic source of information and will no doubt save me from many mistakes.

Get some hockey pucks and screw a big eye bolt into each. Works like a charm and doesn't cost ridiculous $$'s like most of the actual pucks.

Harbour Freight also has round welding magnets that have a center eyelet bolt--work great as lifting pucks.

AC Hydralics DK13HLQ. A quality jack with long reach and real low pad height. Great for lowered cars, no need to jack it up, place blocks under the wheels and re-jack. Its heavy as hell so carrying it to your buddys house would be a pain. Its pricey, but how often do you buy a jack.

Default Jacks & Pucks

Thanks to all for the great responses. DMTNT, did you make the pucks you talked about? Sounds like it's a no brainer. I'm going to Sports Authority now. 2K3Z06, I went to the link and saw those jacks. They do look like they'll do the job.
