I've had my new Z06 for just 10 days now and some 260 miles. During two neighborhood drives, I've heard a noise from the right rear suspension area that sounded kinda/sorta like a dull thud, somwhat like two hammer faces hitting. It was not continuous and definately NOT under any sort of aggressive acceleration. During neither drive was there a repeat of the noise.
There is nothing apparently wrong when under the car looking at the suspension, but then how much can you see on a car but 6 inches off the floor?
Obviously I need to take it in to the dealer, but thought I'd ask has anyone else had had a similar experience?
Check the shock mount bolts. Somewhere in the forum I have seen that others have had a problem with loose upper shock mount bolts. I hope this helps...
There have also been previous posts about a noise coming from a metal plate that is behind the seats which may flex a bit. Perhaps thats what you are hearing. It could help If possible to move seats forward so they are not going to hit the carpeted area behind them.
Check for a loose anti-sway bar. Mine was making a clunking noise on every turn, even when pulling out of the dealership when it was brand new. Figured it just needed breaking in. Finally took it back in to the dealer after a few hundred miles and they discovered a loose/missing bolt on the anti-sway bar.
